DH's sister is expecting and we (other sisters and MIL) are throwing her a baby shower next week. I can't think of anything good to do for favors. Personally, if it were up to me, I would just skip it since I think they are a waste of money, but it's not up to me ;) .

Last time one of DH's sisters was expecting we made magnets out of cute wooden baby animals that we added the baby's name and date of the shower on to, so we don't want to do that again for this SIL. Any ideas??

Do you know if the baby is a boy or girl? Either way, you could buy the specific color M&M's (I think most party stores have them now) and put them in a cute little bag or little candy dish. If the baby's sex isn't known, you could do blue and pink together.

...just a thought, everyone loves M&M's!

How about wrapping up cinnamon rolls into either pink cello for a girl, or blue cello for a boy and attach a note saying-thank you coming to the shower. From _________'s bun in the oven.

i went to the local craft store.. picked up some of those small fuzzy pastel colored Bears.. Some babies.. and Some tiny baskets.. used pink and blue tissue paper in each for the bottom of the basket.. added a baby and a bear in each.. tied a pink or blue ribbon on.. and Wa La.. :thumbsup2

ooohhh....cute ideas!! I am so un-creative ~ I never would have thought of these!

Any other ideas so I can run them by the other shower planners ??

Are there any specialty candy/chocolate shops near you? I had some chocolate pacifiers made (around $2 each) and they wrapped them in plastic and tied pink and blue ribbon around them. Really cute!

I love baby showers and have made candy for quite a few and also weddings. It is so simple, reasonable and always a hit :goodvibes .

I buy candy molds in something similar to the shower theme or perhaps baby booties, carriage, etc. Melt, pour and freeze the candy chocolates (comes in wht,pink, blue, yellow) in molds. When ready, seperate them and put in theme napkins folded like lil diapers w/gold pins & baby charms. There are many varities, other times I've used pink or blue netting tulle tied with baby ribbons. You can also buy mini bars of candy and make cute computer baby print wrappers. Another treat I've done is baby candles scented like baby powder at the craft stores wrapped in tulle w/bow. Good luck and have fun!

Oh another neat idea we've done for baby shower - have all guests sign a message on a cute onsie!! It turns out so neat and something the lil one can wear!! :lovestruc

AC moore's has these baby powder candles for a $1.00. buy some pink and blue ribbon and put a bow and add a little bottle or binky and you have a nice favor that is cheap and useful. If you find out out when their midnight madness sale is you can get them for .75

My sister was having twins so I switched between blue and pink. What I did was get tealight candles and wrap them with toulle and tied it off with an "it's a boy" or "it's a girl" ribbon with a small pink or blue pacifier and attached was a poem. I can't remember exactly what the poem said (a diser helped me out).
It said something like:
Here is a candle for you to light;
Once the stork has made its flight.
With the flicker of the flame;
Say a prayer in Baby _____ 's name.

How about little votive or tealight candles? Wrap them up in tulle and some cute ribbon, add a little tag with a cute poem or saying about the baby, and there you go! Inexpensive and very easy.

how about those clear plastic photo frames that have a magnet for the fridge on the back. take a photo of mom to be, scan it into the computer and overprint "save the date" with the baby's due date (you can glue on foo-foo ribbons and stuff if you like). then when the baby is born-send each of the guests a photo of the baby to put in the frame.

i'm not big on favors either-i'de rather spend the money on food for the guests.

you guys are great!
Thanks for so many cute and easy ideas. I will forward these on to the others and see what we can all agree on. Thanks again!

Just went to a baby shower and the favor was a real small (travel) size bottle of Bath & Body Works Lotion. At my baby shower, many years ago, the favors were cookie cutters of baby feet or hands. I still have them.

I found a pressed sugar box favor idea for weddings. They are very easy to make and look like they took a long time. YOu could then fill them with chocolate or M&M's you can also decorate the lid however you would like. I know that some places charge $5 a piece for weddings for these but they really are easy to make. They last forever and are very pretty.

This site has the recipe http://members.nuvox.net/~zt.proicer/cakepict/sugarmld.htm
THis site has photos so you can see what I am writing about. http://www.gailwatsoncake.com/sugar.html

Yankee Candle makes up labels for such things like baby showers & weddings to put on votives, but I haven't the foggiest idea of how much it'd be for something like that.

I like the M&M idea myself---I can't pass up M&Ms. :thumbsup2

I just gave my friend a baby shower a few weeks ago. For the favors, I took a 4 ounce baby bottle and filled it with M&M's. Each guest got to take a bottle home with them. I found inexpensive bottles at Target 3 for $2.50.

Have fun planning!!

I sent the ideas to my other SIL's and am waiting for them to reply!
I am partial to the M & M's myself :teeth:

For my daughter's baby shower I bought pretty/scented bars of soap, wrapped them individually in saran wrap, tied with a ribbon and attached a small piece of paper saying "from Cherise's shower to yours."
