Baby Shower Etiquette

Very true!

With one caveat.

If they have multiple registries and as you look, the registries aren't making any sense, think about calling to ask about it. Why would I say this?

My friend did 3 or 4 registries. Land of Nod, Babies R Us, Target, and maybe one other place. The registries were ALL over the place. She always knew she would not even try to nurse a baby, so I expected to see a bottle "system", but she had parts of THREE bottle systems. She had no plain onesies, and many different fancy ones. She had other things that made no sense with each other.

I said nothing, and bought a couple outfits from her registry. Pooh and some other Disney theme. She looked at them like they were from outer space, and later shared with me that they were SO overwhelmed that they did it online, and when they clicked to put something on a registry, when it said "people who registered for/bought this also bought these things", they would put "those things" onto the registry as well. And that's how they ended up with a very bizarre registry. If they'd gotten everything they asked for, they would have had way too much not-really-useful stuff.

I wish I'd asked, and she wished that I had said something, because she just had NO clue.

WOW! I have never heard of making such a mess of a registry. Yikes! I think usually, a baby (or bridal) registry is very user friendly and the majority of parents appreciate it when guests buy from it.
