Hello everyone,

I was wondering how those with small children (my girl will be 23 months when we travel) have babyproofed the villas, specially those with full kitchens. I'm kind of concerned about what is at a toddlers reach (knives, ceramic pots and pans, garbage can, etc)
Do you take anything with you to make things easier or do Disney provide you with supplies?
I will not want to spend my time at home worrying about my quicky-hands dropping anything on her feet or knives coming out of the drawers

Thanks!!

We never moved anything with our kids they all seemed happy to just play with their toys on the floor. We only moved the cleanign products we had with us for the dishes and counters etc.

Bring a door stop and outlet covers. The outlets are the perfect height for my 18 month old.

When we have visited WDW, my DD was 17 mos, 2yrs, 3yrs and my DS was 11 mos. We have stayed in studios, 1 bds, & 2 bds. We did not babyproof, per say, the room. First of all, we were not in the room that much. When we were there, they were napping, taking a bath, sleeping, or playing in the family room -- easily corraled or watchable. One trip we brought the plug protectors, put them in, my DD never had time to get near a plug. :confused3 Now we just keep an eye on the kiddies. We visit lots of friends who have not babyproofed their houses. We have tried very hard to train our kids to keep out of things and we haven't had a mishap! :)

Everything that would be of concern for you can be moved to higher ground. My daughter was a cabinet fiend and my son is a drawer fiend. Pots, pans, dishsoap, trash can, recycle can are in the cabinets. Knives, silverware, and, utensils are in drawers. If your daughter prefers one method over the other, just move it up to the upper cabinets.

Our big problem suring our last visit was with my son pressing all the buttons on the TV & DVD!! It is at the perfect height for little ones (OKW)!!

Good Luck & hope you have a terrific time at DVC!!

On the inside of the cabinet door at OKW was a list of items that you could request for your room. Some chargable and some not. THere was an enire list of baby proofing items that you could request free of charge...including outlet covers and bed rails. I would call the resort you are staying at and ask them what they have that you might want!

When DS was 21 months, he had a freak accident at our SSR studio in a place we never thought to baby proof. Hindsight being 20/20, we found the perfect way to baby proof it that night.

What happened was that DS was climbing back and forth from the sofa bed (which was in "bed mode" at the time) to the ottoman, to the floor, and back to the sofa bed. At some point, he fell off the ottoman and landed -- head-first, of course -- onto the track for the sliding glass patio door. 10 stitches later, I found that the cushions and throw pillows from the sofa bed can be placed on the floor to cover the EXACT length of the track.

We had baby-proofed the other areas of the studio using the "higher ground" method.

Thank you everyone. My baby is really active and extremely curious. I know for sure that even five minutes in the room will suffice for her to try to get as much as she can out of the kitchen cabinets (she is very quick) and moving everything to a higher ground doesn't make much sense to me. I think I'll take a couple of door locks for the kitchen and try to get whatever else is I needed from disney. :earboy2:
