We are visting DLP next week and some rides will not accommodate our youngest child age 19 months but we would like to go on the rides with our 4 year old and see that you could take turns on going on the rides, has anyone done this and does it work and also could our daughter have a go twice when the second parent has their go or would does the second rider have to go alone?

Hi Milliemouse
Yep I've used the babyswap system many times and yes it does work. Tell the cast member at the entrance to the ride (after you have queued) and they will take baby and second rider to the ride exit. When first rider exits, and takes over baby, cast member will show second rider(s) where to get on without queuing a second time or sometimes they give you a ticket similar to a fastpass so that second rider can bypass the queue. If, of course, the ride operates fastpass the time window should give you enough time to swap baby over and enter the ride in the usual way. You would have to get fastpasses for everybody who wants to ride though as these are collected at the ride entrance and you would not be able to swap these over. Also your 4 year old could ride twice if she wishes using babyswitch but only once using fastpass. That sounds really confusing  but it isn't really. Just ask any cast member at the ride and they should guide you through it

Do the rides also have "chicken runs" like some of the ones in WDW, so if you get scared (or just don't want to wait outside while the rest of your family ride:rolleyes1 ) you can go through the queue and then wait for them to come off?

Otherwise I spend too much time and money in the shops:lmao:

Yes the big rides do. Not that you would want to use them would you? ;)

Its not always guaranteed that you can ride with the child a second time - it does depend on how busy the ride is.

Eg parent 1 and child 1 queue whilst parent 2 and child 2 queue go to babyswap.

Parent 1 and child 1 ride the ride - then when it comes to babyswap we have had it where they have told parent 1 and child one to get out of the car and only allowed parent 2 to ride putting another single rider in the seat with them so parent 1 then keeps child 1 and child 2.

We have found this happens the most on Big Thunder Mountain.

if it's not convenient for the second rider to go on straight away you can use the ticket later - at least you can for crush. it says on it to use it the same day but the cast members aren't too bothered. crush has a side entrance under a concrete tunnel - a bit creepy but it gets you on the ride pretty sharpish.

i've never seen that, ruthie. when you get a babyswitch ticket it's usually valid for two people. i don't think i'd want to ride alone. fastpass is good on BTM though.
