Baby Names

I'm odd in that I'm a fan of traditional boy names, yet love the trendy girl names that are out now. So while Riley isn't my favorite first name for a boy, I really like Riley Flynn! I really like Quinn, too, but I prefer Quinn Rose (as one PP suggested) to Quinn Aurora or Quinn Kennedy. That's a mouthful!

Whatever you go with, make sure they make you and your wife happy first and foremost. You will never please everyone (as I'm sure you are well aware ;)).

Thanks...that is most important..we will do that. Ha ha..making every person happy with our name choice just will not happen.

We appreciate your feedback...:thumbsup2

Congrats one your twins! I'm 38 weeks pregnant with a pair too and am getting induced next week since my body's not cooperating. Lol. We're having a hard time with names too... it's just so hard finding names that sound good on their own, sound good with the other twin name AND sound good with their big sister's name. :crazy2:

I LOVE Riley Flynn (ok, not a huge fan of Riley, but it's YOUR pick and I really like how that name flows together)... we actually considered caving to DD's demands and giving the boy Flynn as a middle name if we were having a boy. :thumbsup2

I totally agree with you about a monosyllabic first name and monosyllabic middle name not sounding good together. It just seems too stunted to me. We have a monosyllabic last name so always pick first names that have multiple syllables.

I agree with the PP's that aren't huge fans of either girl name. I think Quinn is totally adorable... I just can't think of anything Disney-esque that goes well with it. What about Quinn Alice?

Congratulations on being 38 weeks!!! That's amazing...you made it. That's our goal..but big props to you....that is awesome!!!!!!! :goodvibes Best of luck with the induction...

name cadence, and how they sound with their sibset and alone and with just the two of them is all so exhausting. It's like graphing stuff on a chart and seeing where all the points line up!!!

The feedback is truly really great..and Quinn Alice...that never even popped up. I have an unhealthy fear of Alice in Wonderland..:rotfl2:..it feels like such a dark story..but Quinn Alice does have a nice ring to it. We sort of self-limited ourselves to princesses for some reason so the convo went something like this..

So..honey..let's just go down the list..and start at the top...

Quinn Cinderella...doubt it, not even Quinn Cindy
Quinn Belle..nope
Quinn Aurora..adorable
Quinn Rapunzel..nope
Quinn Ariel...(my DW wore the Alfred Angelo Ariel dress for our wedding...so this was a strong contender)...but alas, no
Quinn Jasmine...um...no
Quinn Tiana, doesn't work
Quinn Mulan...likely be mispronounced anyway
Quinn Snow...she's getting lots of love these days, but no

We didn't progress to any other as Daisy, Tink and Minnie were obviously not on the list. I always forget about Alice...

So, thanks for the suggestion...

Again..best of luck to you...please let us know how it goes!

We've named 7 kids (no twins). It's not easy, for sure. Especially when your dh keeps trying to find names having to do with the Marine Corps. :rolleyes2

I love Riley! that was my pick for #2 (boy), but my brother beat me by 6ms. So, he ended up being Gage. Scroll down to #4...I wanted to name him Tucker, but we didn't tell anyone for fear of comments. Turns out everyone loved it! #6...we named Ryder b/c I still like Riley but couldn't use it. Ryder was close to Riley. LOL!

I agree on the name cadence. That's important to me too and something I paid attention to when picking names.

I love the name Riley Flynn over Chase. Love Quinn! Not really crazy about Kennedy (too popular) or Aurora, but like you said, this is YOUR baby. if you love it, don't worry about what others say. After #3, we stopped telling names until birth b/c of comments from people. Well, that and bc we didn't make a decision until then. Ryder was "Number Six" until he was 12hrs old. ;)

I like the way Aurora Quinn flows better, but one word of caution...2 of my siblings go by their middle name and are forever having to correct people bc society in general calls out a first name, not the middle. So, think about that too.

What about Merida? (the new Brave princess) or Jessie? but that's not very feminine. Maybe Jessie Quinn? I think I like Aurora better, though. Can't wait to hear what you decide! twins! how exciting!!

I have no comments about the names...just wanted to say congrats on the twins! I have twin boys who are amazing if I do say so myself :)

Thanks....good thoughts on the middle being one or the other. DD and DW have the middle name Elizabeth so we thought we'd let her have her own. But it's a beautiful name, we agree.

We have a Quinn (but ours is a boy). It was actually kind of hard to make a middle name sound right with Quinn so his name is Quincy but we call him Quinn. He would have been Quincy/Quinn if he would have been a girl too.

I love both your names. I do think it's important for for them to have very maculine/feminine middle names since both names could be considered unisex.

I love the idea of considering Elizabeth, especially because your daughter and wife both have it. What a cool thing for the girls in the family to all share. Goes great with the name too :).

I like Quinn Rose too. I also like "Aurora Quinn" better than "Quinn Aurora", it flows better off my tounge. I had an Italian friend named Aurora. It is a beautiful name that means dawn.

I agree- Im a big one for syllabic balance as well and think Quinn Aurora sounds almost dissonant. There's an awkward pause there. Aurora Quinn is adorable though and it rolls off the tongue :) Overall, I'd say that I LOVE the idea of the Disney inspired names since it obviously has deep meaning for you and your wife. Pick whatever you love- you'll say your children's names more than anyone else anyway!::yes::

Also, as an aside, we named our son during our last trip :thumbsup2 I had been IN LOVE with the name Jackson since before we conceived and this was only cemented when we stayed a night at Port Orleans and enjoyed some beignets together on our last morning together in WDW near the gift shop "Jackson Square." I might have been seriously biased but I saw it as kind of a sign ;)

Just wanted to add, please make sure to come back and let us all know what you both decided to go with, and congratulations!

Wow...7 kids..congratulations to you and your husband...for sure!!! Thanks for making us laugh. We agree that Ryder was a great choice if you couldn't get Riley. But Number Six would have worked great!!!! We feel the same way about not telling names and we weren't going to...just wanted feedback and that's how we got here.

Interesting that so many love AQ instead of the other way around. Something to think about it...but we are truly excited about the twinkles!!!!

Thanks for the stories and for commenting. We appreciate it.

I have no comments about the names...just wanted to say congrats on the twins! I have twin boys who are amazing if I do say so myself :)

Thanks for the sweet words of congrats. I'm sure the twins are amazing..and I hope ours turn out just as much so!!

Thanks for the insight from your own experiences with Quinn/Quincy. Elizabeth is something sweet, but since my daughter is not my DW's kiddo, it's not truly our family tradition. We all love it and the girls love and share the bond of a identical middle name, but we are still going to have Quinn get one of her own. By chance, if you don't mind, what middle name did you give Quincy?

Ha ha..good point..we will say their names more than anyone else. I hadn't thought of it that way. Disney means a lot to us which is why we're seriously considering making the switch! Thanks for the comments.

Cute story about Jackson. If we named based on places we had stayed, who knows what their names would have been?! But, cute, you got a sign. Jackson is a super cute name...would you ever call him Jack..or always Jackson?

I like Quinn Rose too. I also like "Aurora Quinn" better than "Quinn Aurora", it flows better off my tounge. I had an Italian friend named Aurora. It is a beautiful name that means dawn.

It has taken posting it and getting the feedback to realize the hard letters in QK give the name a masculine feel. It still has a special place in my heart..I was already calling her Quinnedy! So, we're still thinking about things, weighing all of our options. The feedback here has been great so we appreciate it.

Congrats on twins!! I love the names Riley and Quinn. I also like Aurora better than Kennedy and the suggestion of Aurora Quinn is cute. A lady I work with has a daughter named Aurora and they call her Rory for short. You could have a Rory and a Riley.
The next Disneyish name that might go with Quinn is from The Aristocats, Quinn Marie

When I was a teenager, I was convinced that I was going to name my daughters after Disney characters. My favorite was Aurora Rose.

Anyways, I prefer Riley Chase. Riley Flynn has too many L's
I'm not a fan of Quinn Kennedy either....too neutral.
I agree that Quinn Aurora doesn't flow right. I think it's the U's. I like Quinn Ariel better.
You could also do Quinn Ella.
You have forgotten one oft forgotten princess - Eilonwy from the Black Cauldron. I don't know if it fares any better than Aurora, but it's one of my favorite names. Alas, it's too strange for my husband's taste.

Our Quinn is adopted. He is Nigerian so we kept his African name as a second middle name. He is Quincy Todd Oluwatise. Quite the mouthful! Todd is after his godfather. For real life we just use Quincy Todd ;).

Thanks so much. We are very excited and getting so close. Rory is a cute nickname, but we both feel that if we name with an intent to call them by a nickname, we should just name them that name. So, if we wanted to call her Rory, we would just name her that. If it comes about naturally, the way Maddie did for Madison, then that's different.

Quinn Marie probably wouldn't work since it's my ex's middle name!! :rolleyes1

But still very pretty. Thanks so much for the words of encouragement, it's great to read all about others' experiences and how it sounds to them.

Cute..Aurora Rose is so very pretty and so 100% Disney!!!

Hmmm...that's an interesting perspective..my name has wayyyyyyyyy too many T's...so I never thought about it..but I guess that's why you vet the names.

Ahhh..I did forget Elionwy, but I think that we agree with your husband's thoughts on it!! Thanks again for the comments.

That's really great and really special. It's a part of his history so it's really neat that its in his name. :goodvibes

To my ear, with the syllables, Todd sounds great with Quincy but chopped with Quinn which is why Rose is struggling to sound good for us. Great names...all 3 of them!

I like Riley with either of the middle names, but Chase is a little less trendy right now so I would personally choose Chase.

Quinn was tops on our list all three pregnancies as a girl's name, so I love it  Our choice was Quinn Amelia (which...see below...Amelia is a little remembered character in the Aristocats.)

We have a Charlotte Aurora and I do love Aurora and think it flows okay with Quinn. the Q/K of the Quinn Kennedy gets me in being too hard and that they are fairly common last names and I think pairing them sets up for a lot of confusion down the road.

For some other Disney-fied suggestions outside the princesses: Esmerelda, Megara, Bianca, Violet, Abigail, Amelia, Audrey, Giselle.

Best of luck on your sweet little loves! Can't wait to hear what you settle on!
