WOW you guys are rough! Can't believe NOONE likes the ie spelling....

NO none of them are nicknames---they are the real names - I hate nicknames I will call them what they are named unless it's some pet name like "sweetie"

Don't care about finding their name on stuff - could never find my name on stuff & I managed to survive & nowadays you can get it anything with your name on it pencils, mongramms---certainly not an issue & why I'd choose (or not) a name.

I don't think my dd has had any problems w/her name...she's Emilie - and yes, that E M I L I E.... & it's a real name - not a nickname....

THAT is why we are going with the "IE" on the newest baby....

OH FOOT I don't know why I'm bothering to explain this stuff! I dont' know why it matters or why I even asked.....sorry to waste your time! :earseek:

Wow, a little defensive? You asked for opinions and got it =) IE on the end of most of those appears to be a cutesy NN for a real name. Maddie is a nn for Madison. Just a fact.

I do think Emilie is pretty =) Mollie is a bit better, as it's not a NN for something else, though I still prefer Molly.

Good luck choosing

I agree with you there. I don't like it when people give their kid one name but intend to call him/her another. That's why I like my name, Laura--there's no easy nickname for it. Although I get a few people who want to call me Laurie. Nobody has ever called me Laurie. It's not my name.

I voted for Maggie; I've always liked the name.

I like Sadie. People did seem a little rough on the names. But your the only who has to like it. No one really liked are name for Gillian. But I couldn't picture her with any other name.

I don't like any of them either... but if I absolutely had to pick I'd pick Maddie. I think I don't like them because they do sound cutesy (as someone else said). They sound like a baby or a kid's name- not the name of an adult. I think that is why people like nicknames- the child has the chance to decide if they are "too old" for the nickname and go with their given name as an adult.

I'm sorry if you are insulted by my post. You asked the opinions of others and that is what people are responding with. You don't have to listen to any of us- it's your baby!! :goodvibes

I really like several of your names. Personally, I vote for Sydnie. I do have to tell you that it will be a pain for her to have to spell it correctly for everyone when she gets older. I speak from experience- my name is Kristie and nobody ever spells it right. Good luck and congrats on the new baby :)

I like Mollie and Maggie. I know two beautiful sis ters named Emily and Molly so I think they sound so pretty together. Do you have middle names picked out? Congratulations!!

I like Mollie and I love the ie at the end, I like names that arn't used often, Like my DD Hayley, most people spell it Hailey, but I wanted to be different and put 2 y's in her name, sure I have to spell it for everyone, but its worth it. My older DD is Katelyn and alot of people spell it Kaitlyn, but again I wanted to be different.

I agree with this poster that most of the names are "cute" children's names, but may not be appreciated as much when the child grows up.

I also agree with the other poster that said Emilie & Mollie go well together, and they're cute names, but not too cutesy.

You know, if you don't want to hear or read people's opinions, then don't post them. Don't jump down everyone's throat because they voiced their opinions after YOU asked for them.

I voted for Maggie, but I like most of them. You seem intent on a name ending in "ie". It's always good to end the name in a vowel sound, you can carry that name out a long time when yelling down the street. (i.e. Amandaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!, when yelling for my oldest)

I like Mollie!! :flower:

Oh my god....does my mom DIS? :rotfl2:

I voted for Marcie and Macie.

I voted for Maggie. I like that one the best. Don't get upset-- there are always going to be people that don't like certain names. Thats okay.

I voted for Mollie! (But I like it better spelled Molly)

I learned during my last pregnancy to try and not even tell people my name choices for my baby, because there will always be lots of people who don't like it and don't have a problem raining on the parade. I almost changed my baby's name because of people on another message board not liking it.
I thhink you should go with what you and your DH like and don't worry (or ask) about anybody else's opinion.

Definitely. If I ever manage to get pregnant (I'm working on it...) I'll be avoiding opinion polls. I'll be naming my child a name that means something to me...and if I need opinions about it on a MB, then I must not feel very strongly about the names. Besides, I already made the mistake of telling my mom my choice for a girl's name and she lost no time in telling me she haaaated it. To which my response was, it wouldn't be your child to name.

Have to agree STRONGLY! In the end do what feels right to you and your dh. I cannot tell you how many times I heard "well that doesn't sound like an adult name" or "you are naming her what". That last one I heard for well over a year from my grandmother. So sorry that I didn't name her Ethel, Bertha or whatever was "in style" to some one who was in their 70's. Times change and so do names :flower: By the way my vote would be for Maddie, because I have a beautiful one here at home :goodvibes Although her "formal" name is Madison we did shorten to Maddie because we knew that we would be calling her Maddie Paige most of the time. Just until recently she has requested that we drop the Paige - you know since she is 8 and all ;) They are all beautiful :flower:
