I will always remember that day. My nephew was her age, he was 15 months old, and my sister was on duty for the Army Reserves. I was babysitting him and hos baby brother, 5 months old. Adam started getting warm. I lived with my mom, so she helped me tend to him, I was young and had no idea how to deal with a sick baby. I was sitting in the chair holding him, he had no shirt on, I put my hand on his back to rub it, and it felt like I touched a hot iron. My mom called my sister at work, but she was in a convoy. I put the baby in the car, and drove to her unit, and waited for her. She took his temp and it was 105 degrees. !!!!! So, we head to the ER. I am freaking out, because on the way over, he started to roll his eyes back in his head, and all I could think of was keep him awake.
Well, only my sister was allowed in, so I waited, and the Baby Jessica ordeal was on the TV. The poor baby was the same age as my nephew, and we didn't know what was wrong with him. I will never forget my 1st ER visit with a baby, and I will never forget Baby Jessica.
Adam just got back from serving 6 months in Afghanstan....so yeah, I sure do know how time flies!
