Is baby food available anywhere in DLR or anything else that has a smooth puree textrue (like yogurt)? DS is 3 but he's just now learning how to eat and can only eat purees right now since he hasn't learned how to chew yet (he's had many medical issues which made eating a negative experience for him so he's had a feeding tube his whole life). Anyway, we're planning on bringing food for DS from home (in plastic containers!) but I just wondered if anyone knows of anywhere to get baby food there just in case we need it.

Also, anyone know if any of the sit-down restaurants will puree regular food for you? I know, that's a strange question and doesn't apply to most people but it would be interesting to know if it's possible.

Not that I know of, and I'm not sure if they'd puree any of the regular foods. I'd personally want to either bring it from home, or there are grocery stores in the area that you can get it from (or even have delivered to your hotel).

FYI- if you read closely on the disney site, baby food holds an exception to the glass container rule.

I'm actually a local and we'll be getting APs so we'll be going several times during the next year and staying just for the day (not in a hotel). I just have this fear of leaving the house in a hurry and forgetting DS's food! I'm sure that probably won't happen but just wanted to know what my options were if we needed some.

Oooh, thanks! Good to know!

Another idea, is you can get a small portable food grinder and just keep it in your bag. This way you can always have food he can eat. My daughter has medical issues too and we've done this and it works great. This way no matter where we go we can make something for her to eat. Try doing a search for a "baby food grinder".

That's a good idea. I'll have to look into getting one of those since it sounds like it could come in handy. Thanks for the suggestion! :goodvibes

I thought that they sold baby food in the baby care center. I could be wrong. I would think that this would fall under the dietary restrictions. Why don't you call and ask to speak to a chef. It doesn't hurt to ask him if they will puree? If they can prepare gluten free food, they can certainly use a blender! Most places have mac/cheese in some form. This would be easily blended. Also, the new power pack meals have yogurt in them. I don't know how much your ds eats or exactly where he is in his learning, but the power packs also have small packs of goldfish that would mush easily. Some places have the "toddler" meal that has arrozo (not sure the consistency) and applesauce. Good luck!

Yeah im sure they sell baby food at the baby care centre i have read all about it in another post or in my reseach.

The only baby food that I have seen at Dl. is what babies were eating. I asked them no questions, for I was in fear of becoming spat upon. I remember my niece, doing the spit up thing, OMG! it makes the exorcist scene look like well, child's play! he he!

The chefs at the Napa Rose pureed vegetables and such for us when our girls were starting on solids, so I don't see why the other sit-down restaurants wouldn't!

There is that place in TL that has the yogurt cups that Mom and Dad like so much. Maybe you could get it without the "stuff" in it or scoop around it. I forget what is in it.

There might be soup somewhere.

Maybe you should keep a jar or two in your DL bag at all times just in case.

Oh! I just remembered! I think.... Whitewater Snacks might sell yougurt. They had all kinds of stuff you can just pick out of the fridge and eat. If you are stuck, you should check there. I think I remember seeing yougurt there.

Okay, so having the restaurants blend food is a possibility. Good to know!

I figured there must be yogurt somewhere.

A Dole Whip would work well too...of course it's not real food as in something you'd eat for a meal, but a great treat!

I think the portable grinder would work well. I have one from kidco that I used when starting solids with my kiddos. It has its own case and was easy to use. You could probably rinse it out easily in the sink.

If you go to Carnation Cafe for Breakfast, they have a yogurt/granola/fruit thing. I'm sure you could ask for it without the granola and get the fruit on the side which you could moosh up and stir into the yogurt yourself.
