In the DVC guide it is stated that a baby bed is provided in 1 and 2 bedroom vacation homes.

I booked a 2 bedroom in OKW for Xmas and I wish to sleep my 2 year old son in such bed. Are sheet and / or blankets provided or do I have to bring my own?

Is a "Baby crib" (as described) what I think it is, ie baby "umbrella" bed big enough to accomodate a child up till 3 or 4 years old?

We were just at BCV over Thanksgiving in a 1bdrm with a 2yr. 2mo. old. The baby crib is a Graco Pack'n'play type crib. Ours was hidden in the chest coffee table. I was slightly disappointed that there was only a sheet in the chest as well. No mattress pad or blankets. I also didn't call to see if they would bring some. They might have some on hand. My daughters always travel with a blankie anyway and it was a lot warmer than home.

I was happily suprised that there was a highchair in the closet! The washer and dryer was great!!

The "cribs" provided by DVC are called pack-n-plays here in the States. They are portable items that fold up very small and aren't the same size as a regular crib. They do come with a sheet to be used with the bottom, which is just a padded mat, not a regular mattress. They are usually designed for children who weigh less than 30 pounds and are no taller than 34 inches. Which is about the size of your average 2 year old. Here is a picture of exactly what you will be provided with (the colors will be slightly different).

If you need something larger, due to having a larger child, Disney doesn't provide anything larger, even though they will sometimes provide a "crib". These are no larger than the pack-n-plays, but do look like cribs, with wood sides, but the side are immovable and they are actually not to be used with a toddler, since they aren't very stable. If you want a full-size crib like at home, you'll have to rent it from an off-site rental place. The one most mentioned here on the DIS is www.abbf.com They are reliable, based on reports I've read, and provide quality equipment.

I personally think the pack-n-plays have very little padding or "cush" to them, if you know what I mean, and the older the child, the more they might notice it. (That said, I have 7 and 8 yr old ds that both think sleeping on the hard floor is great fun, so go figure).

When we took our dd as an 8 mos old, she slept "ok" in the pack-n-play. I brought extra sheets (I think the ones WDW provides are the ones that come with the pack-n-play... they are a poly-cotton blend, kinda scratchy if you're used to all cotton, and plus -- as we all know -- ya need more than one sheet when you're dealing with kids!) We also brought our own pads to go under it, and her own blanket for comfort. When she was two, however -- she wanted no part of it (the pack-n-play)! She still slept in a crib at home, and she wasn't very big (even now, at 3 1/2 yrs old, she's only 37" tall, and about 31 lbs). But something about that Pack-N-play didn't feel good to her. She actually was better off with the pack-n-play mattress lifted out and placed on the floor, like a "pad", by our bed. I think it's because at age 2, she kept inching up towards the mesh wall and it bugged her.. that, of course, and her unquenchable desire to be in OUR bed, just a few feet away! ;)

You can ask for bed rails since OKW has a 2nd bed. We have gone the bed rail route our last 3 trips. Of course that's if the bed it available for your toddler.

does anyone know if the all resorts offer bedrails? my ds is in a twin bed now (19 months) and i would love bedrails for him at BWV.

Yes, all resorts offer bed rails. Just call housekeeping when you arrive in your room, and they'll bring them right up.

Thanks so much to all!

I'm glad I didn't email DVC directly as I first intended to do.

The rails are a great idea but I'm not sure I will bed both my children together (they would get wild at being together). Moreover, I doubt this would work on the convertible sofa?

I may let him sleep on the floor after all... At least he would not fall down!:jumping1:

The queen size sleeper sofa at BCV is big (well, I guess it is queen size, duh  ). My 8yo and 4yo were able to share it without bothering each other. We put the small decorative pillows down the middle to help keep them from invading each other's space.

A few nights we let the 4yo go to sleep in our bed (when he was too wild) and then moved him a very short time later (they were so exhausted by the end of the day that I think they probably could have slept sitting in a chair;) )
