We are going down to Disney in January with our 5 month old. We have been many times before but this will be our first time with a baby. We are planning on bringing his stroller and a carrier for the day but in the evening we are planning on just having him in the carrier. I wanted to see what carriers have worked best for people; our son will either be asleep or sleepy and enjoys the carriers we have ( Beco Gemini, Moby and Maya) but wasn't sure which ones people have found to be the best for carrying sleeping little ones. Thanks in advance for your help.

We went to Disney when our son was 6 months old. I had him in a Moby wrap most of the time. This worked great for us. It was in January, though, so it wasn't terribly hot.

Beco or Moby would work well. Moby might even help keep you extra warm since the nights will be cool/cold. Whatever you would use at home for an extended period of time is what I would bring.

I used an Ergo with my 7 month old which is similar to the beco. I found that by about 5-6 months my kids almost got too heavy to wear in the moby and my kids are on the smaller side. I would bring the moby and a soft structured carrier. You may find it better to switch carriers since they all lay differently. It just might be more comfortable to switch.

I did find the ergo a must for time in lines but my DS was content in his stroller most of the time.

I would not use a Moby with a 5 month old. I love it for younger babies, but after 12-15 pounds it is not as comfortable.

The most comfortable for a baby that age and easiest to use would be something structured like the Ergo or Beco or Patapum. Good support on you, and the wide leg style that you want for healthy hips for the baby. If you want something a bit less structured, a mei tai is great too, but harder to get on and off. Pros of all of these is that you can wear baby on your front or your back! I also believe all 3 have sleeping hoods you pull up to give baby more head support while sleeping - which is nice. They are also great for carrying while the baby is awake as well. Since you have a Beco, if you like it, I'd just bring that.

I agree with this. I really don't think a Moby is a good choice for a 5 month old, I can't imagine it being comfortable for extended wear with a baby that age (unless your baby is very small for 5 months). We usually switch from the Moby around 2 months with all our kids. Our last trip we had a 7 month old and I alternated between the Ergo and Boba every day and she was very comfortable and so was I.

I used Moby in WDW with our then 12.5 month old and found it extremely comfortable. She loved it and slept in it and was content looking around. I was comfy and had no problems with it. I would highly recommend it.

Ergo for sure. Great support for for of you with all of the park walking. And very easy to readjust after getting uo and down out of a seat/ride/bus Love it!

My youngest was six months on our last trip (in January 2013 :) ) and we used the Moby all day long every day at the parks. She much preferred it to the Ergo at that age.

The Moby is only comfortable for me when my babies are brand new. I have big babies and they hit 15 pounds pretty quickly and the Moby doesn't support their weight well. I have an Action Baby Carrier that I love to use for front carries. It is easy for me to nurse in and for baby to sleep in. I also have a Boba that I really like for back carries.

My babies have all slept in any carrier. We have woven wraps, buckle carriers and a MT. They both can fall asleep in either style. I always prefer the buckle carrier for disney.

I agree with the other ladies I would not use any stretchy wrap like a moby for a baby that big.

Moby even says not to use past 15 lbs for safety reasons. When using a stretchy wrap if baby startts to sag down and you cannot kiss the top of babys head its time to stop using moby. I have seen pics of moms who use stretchy wraps and baby is all the way down by the moms crotch they sag so low. That is not safe at all. Also baby at that age can start to kick away and is strong enough they could fall out. If baby leans back and you have to hold baby for support another sign baby is too big.

Thank you for all the responses! My son is about 14 lbs right now and we go down in a few weeks. We haven't used our Beco too much but we will start so he gets used to it as this seems like the best one to use.

Definitely the beco for that age for the time period you are talking about. Our ergo is our go-to for traveling and is quite comfy w/ a sleeping baby, even for a few hours. At 6 months I wouldn't want to wear a sleeping baby in a moby for too long. DD2 was 4 months when we went and I had our ergo and moby. I used both, but the longer naps occurred in the ergo.

Our youngest was 4 months old last year when we went and I have a beco, worked out great. It's comfy, he loved it and I figured out how to nurse in it which was a plus. I would use what you and your baby are more comfy in. Have fun!

That's not true, the weight limit is 35 lbs, not 15.

I'm jealous - my 5 month babe refuses to sleep in a carrier, but luckily she LOVES her stroller. If I'm doing a quick trip to the parks then I'll use my carrier, but anything more than 3 hours and I don't even bother with the carrier and only use a stroller. She is already 18 lbs, so generally on the big side.

My daughter likes her Beco Butterfly II. She hasn't slept in it for ages (she's 19 months, 25 pounds and is walking so she doesn't like being worn much anymore), but it's comfortable even with her this big. I wear her on my back now when we hike or are somewhere that the stroller won't go.

When my DS was 7 months we used the Ergo all over DL. I can still wear him comfortably at 30lbs+
