Baby Bjorn or Maya wrap for 7 month old

I agree with Moinab! When we went in October it was easily in the upper 80's to low 90's everyday and I really didn't feel the extra heat of the wrap. I wore the thing all day! Also the extra material is great for discreet nursing. I would tuck the extra fabric under my baby when I wasn't using it. Another wonderful "extra" with the wrap is it comes with a deep pocket, there was enough room for a diaper, wipes and antibacterial cleanser. (and I even fit the camera in it when we would go on attractions) One noc I went to epcot with my DD for a few hours and all I took was the wrap and the "extras" (including the room key/credit card). It was great to not have to carry around a diaper bag for that short of time. My DD slept the whole time! With a little practice you get used to putting it on and it becomes a breeze to take the baby in and out!

Hey, guys, I *never* said a Maya Wrap was bulky! In spite of the name, technically,it's not a "wrap type" sling, b/c it is ring-fastened at the shoulder. Normally, with a Maya, one leaves the "tail" loose, which is do-able, b/c the whole sling is only about 6-7 ft. long.

The "wrap-type" slings are the ones where you start with the fabric centered across your waist, cross it around your body and up over your shoulders on both sides, tuck the ends back down and around baby, then tie them off and tuck in the excess. The amount of your torso that is tightly covered with this type is about equivalent to what it would be if you were wearing a vest-type life jacket; it's a LOT more fabric than a Maya.

even easier to use, is the pouch style sling - maya do one, and so do New Native. I have one from the Peppermint UK site which doesn't seem to be on the Peppermint US side

but it is brilliant, very very quick and easy to get baby in and out of, and when Molly was at WDW age 3 months, she slept hours in it.

How is the maya pouch? Is it better/more versitile than the sling? Im not crazy about all that extra fabric (tail) even though I plan on nursing again. Does it offer enough support to a newborn (my first was 12 lbs 2 oz and most likely the next will be big too-though dr said they might take it early) and how hard is it on your back (Ive had back problems)? Thanks for the input!
