Baby and rides

Hi,

We will be traveling as 4 adults and one 8 month old to Disneyland in July and had a question. I am familiar with Rider Swap, but I was wondering if all of us could just get in line together and two go on the ride while the other two wait with the baby, then when they return they hold the baby and the other go on the ride. Is this acceptable?

They won't let you do that. They won't let a child below the age/height limit for a ride beyond the entrance area @ DLR/DCA. They will give you a child swap ticket to return through the fastpass line, but you will still have to wait for however long the fastpass line is. Hope that helps. As the PP mentioned, the baby is not allowed in the line. However, since there are four adults, you can use the rider swap in conjunction with FP to maximize ride time.

So say you get to DL and you have four tickets. You go first to ST and get 2 FPs only for that ride. Then you go to Space and use the other 2 tickets and get 2 FPs for that ride. Go about your business and then return to the ST queue when your FPs are eligible. Show the CM the baby and get the rider swap pass and then two adults use their FP to ride ST. When the first two adults are off ST, they take the baby and give the rider swap pass to the other two adults since the rider swap pass is good for two people. The other two adults ride. Rinse and repeat for every ride. You can get twice as many FPs for your group using this method.

Also note you do not have to use the rider switch pass right away, but you do have to use it that same day. The method for using the rider switch pass varies from attraction to attraction. Some method have you use the FP line, while others have you use the exit. Each pass has the instructions printed on it, so just follow the directions and ask a CM if you are confused. Have fun!

This is a great explanation. We traveled with another family - we each had mom, dad, a five year old and a toddler. With this system, including using the 5 year olds' tickets for the fast passes (since the machines don't differentiate) , we rarely waited for anything. The two moms rode with the older kids using 4 fastpasses, then the two dads rode with the older kids (again!) using the swaps since they were good for two. And since we had six tickets total, we used the extra two tickets to get fast passes & switches for rides the older kids didn't want to go on. Fabulous.
