LegoMom, hope you are feeling better now that you had your coffee this morning. It used to be you could get a work permit around here at 15, maybe you still can, but there are not many jobs available. What is available for teens usually go to older teens or the business hires a teen they know.

I'm so cold. 14 degrees with the wind chill. Living room is freezing b/c we are out of oil and the wood stove in the cellar only helps heat the kitchen side of the house. That won't help much longer though b/c we are almost out of wood too.

Sorry about your work situation. Mine is not good either. Someday I will have to take a ride down to see you.......someday when I can afford the gas.

You guys just blow me away with all this cold talk. I barely turned my a/c off this Winter it's been so warm down here. I have a feeling I will be in for a real shock when I go to Alaska in June. June to me is tank tops and flip flops, but I bet I'll need my winter clothes to go that far up North.

LM - Good luck with the house hunt. You do have something great to look forward to, less than 3 months until you enjoy some fun in the Florida sun!

You will. June in Alaska is just starting to warm up (spent the summer of '92 there!). Then the first two weeks of July are summer. Last two weeks are rainy season, then August starts fall.

SOOOO looking forward to that trip. I have put so much planning (as in ideas; we're not "scheduling" the week) into this, it's ridiculous! I even printed out the menus for Pecos Bill's and Cosmic Ray's for our Disney day, since they have varied menus and my family has a habit of staring at a menu board with our mouths open in utter indecision..... There's going to be lots of pool time, lots of beach time, some mini golf, and just hangin' with my dad.

Oh, that reminds me, can you recommend a good beach restaurant?....kid-friendly of course, but good food and drinks.

On the up side, since he wasn't here today, the class reached 94% completion of homework. The normal average is 72%

I totally get what kwitcher is saying. There are rare instances where admin has to do something drastic like that. Like I say, it's rare, but it happens. I've had to call the police on a third grader throwing chairs at me.

Yup. Something major has changed in Christmas and I can't quite put my finger on it. He's been working VERY hard to get put out. He'd rather be where he is than at home.

Hopefully someone reaches him and soon. I try to tell him I believe in him every day I see him. He's so smart. Has probably the highest vocabulary in the class. He's also taken some book recommendations and just took to them. Now I've got him in Harry Potter and he couldn't put it down. That's my link to him where it's normal talk. When he started to act up in the room I'd get him to read and he'd come back to where he needed to be.

If he comes back, hopefully we'll be able to pick up the reading where he left off and if he's gone, hopefully he finishes the series. I told him my favorite book was Order of the Phoenix in an attempt to get him to commit to see what I was talking about.

I've been through a 6 hour class and it all blends together after hour 2.

Any possibility of getting the schedule changed up at all?

Hey, it's Wednesday! Week's half over (or, will be, at noon!). Our landlord will be here at 8:00 today with an electrician.....Ugh. I mean, we're up and going at that point, but to have strangers in at that hour......
