We were in Lowes yesterday. There was a little boy looking at the big blow up decorations. His excitement was just.... magical.

I have actually been contemplating pulling the decorations out for a couple of weeks now.

We had a hot and wet summer. Boy has it rained.
Remember, we are Land Surveyors and my guys are really ready for some cool weather.

Hey y'all...... here's a WWYD sitch-ee-ation:

Currently DH and I are booked at CBR. I'm waiting on discounts after the first of the year, but given the historical trend the last few years, there will be a room discount that we can apply.

The trip is 4 days/4 nights. On the one hand, it's an anniversary trip so I feel like, why not spring for the Mod. I've never stayed at CBR but have always wanted to, and I feel the theming is perfect for us.

However, due to the length of the trip, it is going to be very much parks-focused. We will be using the pools, but as either brief afternoon breaks or an evening wind-down.

So part of me says, it's a special trip, go big. And part of me says, it's a short trip, you won't be IN the room very much, save money and just go Value (possibly Pop, more likely ASMusic).

I know it probably comes down to personal choice, but I keep waffling back and forth.

We have always been fanatical about savings and investments. But after what we have recently been through.... I almost lost the love of my life. So money doesn't mean the same to us as it used to. Yes, you have to save.
But shouldn't you live a little now while you can actually enjoy yourself? And besides with the money you will save buy switching to a value. Will it make a HUGE difference somewhere else? Give yourself permission to splurge a little on yourselves. We are on this next trip. And it feels GOOD!!

You know what Smiley?.......this is EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I can't even begin to tell you what our family has been through this year, and it's not even over yet. DH and I haven't celebrated our anniversary in ANY way since 2007 (and our 20th came and went unnoticed in '12!!). I think we're due for a little splurge, and the atmosphere of CBR is just the ticket there. I wouldn't spend the difference on anything else of real value; we've already got some special meals planned; AND, I'm booking airfare on points so I don't have to pay for that.

Everything makes sense now. Thanks for your input!!
