Babies at WDW...

We took our DD when she was 9 months old. She LOVED It's a Small World-rode it continuously several times-and the Figment ride at Epcot. She slept in the stroller when she was tired. I was nursing her and that helped a lot-no worries about bottles, mixing formula, etc.

And now we are going back in just 9 days!!!! She will be almost 2.5 and is so excited!! She begs to watch that rediculous planning DVD. I can't watch it, too jumpy for me. People tell me that this trip is for us because she can't remember any of it. Pooh on them! She'll remember and even if she doesn't she'll have a great time just being with Mama and Daddy! (And, of course, Mickey, Minnie, Pooh, Tigger, the Princesses, Dumbo!)

We are going to WDW in Nov with a 3 month old. He is nursing and wont be on solids by then so all I have to pack is the clothes and diapers! Not to mention he is free on the airplane and in the park.

We took DD 7mo and she did great !! She loved Buzz and IASW plus watching all of the people and rides !

We have taken Alyssa to Disney twice (she was 6 months and 13 months), and she'll be 18 months on her third trip next month. You'll know your baby's needs and you'll adjust your trip accordingly. Just relax, and you'll have a great time!

I just had my dd (also my first) on May 5 and at the time I would have said no way, no how would I take a 6 month old to WDW! But now that dd is becoming mobile and babbles more than cries she is a very easy baby. She will be almost 6 months during Halloween and I would definitely be willing to take her to WDW then if I could. Unfortunately b/c of the type of job my dh has he can't take his vacation time except during the months of April-August. The 2 times I'd like to go are during Halloween and Christmas so it figures he can't go. I am hoping one day that will change. Anyway, the point is at first a baby is a big adjustment and you might rethink your trip during the first couple months. But once you get used to your baby and his/her needs you will know whether the trip will be a good idea or not. I know my dd would do fine but we can't go until May. The good news is we will be there during her 1st b-day!

Just remember that you will have to plan your days according to your child's needs and wants and you should be fine...assuming you have a pretty easy-going baby that is!

Btw, when are you due? It sounds like you are due around my dd's b-day. My original due date was May 1 but she came 4 days late!

Going to WDW with a 3-12 month old child is one thing but when it comes down theme park rides you can't go on them together.

DH and I are waiting until are children are 5-6 years old before we return. Also by this time we will not have to worry about strollers and the rest of the bags of supplies that go along.

Yes it is hard to sit and wait until then, but when re return it will be that much more special.

I have not had personal experience taking a baby to Walt Disney World- but I definitely have other places, theme parks, vacations and such. Personally I would much rather take a 6mo or younger baby in cooler months to a theme park for days on end like that- than take an older toddler (in the 7mo to 2yr old range) -anytime... much less in the summer HOT months! That's for sure. We went our first time when our youngest was barely 2- it was great. But I really can't imagine having taken any of our children at the 1-2yr range... just old enough to want to do stuff, not tall enough to do so.. just the age they want to walk and not sit in the stroller- and believe me that's not easier than pushing a stroller around especially in crowds... even nursing is harder during that age range (7mo to 2yrs)- they don't nurse quietly and quickly at that age/they want to look around WHILE nursing/they are bigger to hold while nursing- just generally not condusive to nursing at your leisure wherever you want without everyone seeing everything you have (LOL), etc. etc.

I'm not saying that's an age NO ONE should take their children- I'm just saying for myself personally, if I had a choice- I'd take a 6mo old in cooler weather months than a 7mo to 2yr old in summer hot months.. hands down. No question about it.

But if I didn't have a choice or wanted to go more often- I'd do both/any age. LOL

DS went to WDW at: 6 mos., 11 mos., 18 mos., & 22 mos.

The 6 mos. trip was by far the easiest! He slept in the stroller whenever he needed to and we could still go, go, go.

The rest of the trips we went back to the room for his afternoon nap. Not a big deal, and actually kind of nice since it forced us to slow down!

Your baby will be fine - it's just a matter of you being up to it, I think.

Our little guy is 16 months, and he's been going every month since he was six weeks. Every time it gets better. We find it easiest to do stuff at WDW around his schedule. He naps in the stroller. When he was 6 months, he wasn't afraid of anything at WDW. Now that he is getting older, he is becoming scared of the dark rides and big charaters.

Enjoy your new baby and your vacation - your only problem will be deciding which adorable Halloween costume you will choose!!!!

Oh, this has already been decided... If she's a girl, it will be Tinkerbell (my favorite). And if he's a boy, it will be Stitch (my DH's favorite).

The baby can be pushed in a stroller, and will probably be easier to look after than my 4 year old son.

I would say the trip is more for yourselves, the baby won't enjoy as much, but isn't too young too take.

p.s. I go to school in Columbus!

I'd assume since you are going for nursing, that you go to Ivy Tech, correct?
