Does anybody know what type of planes BA generally fly to Orlando and Tampa ?

Have you flown with them on these routes, and how did you find it ?

Ummm, any sort of feedback would be appreciated.

BA flies into Tampa, Orlando and Miami (I think).

The ones that fly into Orlando are one of the few routes where the planes have not been updated :(

So they do not have the Enhanced Economy seats of World Traveller Plus which is supposed to be the equivalent of Virgin's Premium Economy.

Obviously when flying into Orlando BA flies into Orlando International rather than Sanford.

I have flown with BA to MCO but it wasn't in Economy so I can't give you anymore details unless you want me to go on about Club class.

Sorry Sid but I hope I gave you some info.

Club ? I can't afford that. I've got 4 women in my family, so shopping takes priority. I'm thinking of getting a job as a sherpa. I've got plenty of experience if anyone knows of any vacancies !

We've flown with BA to Orlando a couple of times (and we've only ever flown Economy ;) ), and I'd rank them slightly 'better' than the Virgin flights we've taken on the same route.

Maybe we've been lucky and had upgraded planes on our trips, but one of the things which swings my vote to BA is the seating. The seats have moveable side pieces on the head rest part which help to stop your head falling onto your neighbour's shoulder if you nod off! The best bit for me (being just slightly vertically challenged ;) ) is that all the seats had a retractable foot rest which pulled down from under the seat in front - I found that a great help in getting comfortable. The legroom was about 'average' as far as I remember.

I don't think BA's baggage allowance is as much as Virgin's, but it's more than you'd get on most of the charter flights, I think :teeth:.

BA's baggage allowance is the same for hold luggage as Virgin's. Not sure about it for carry-on. One small purse/ laptop plus bag weighing not more than 6 kg. I know some of the US airlines allow more weight as carry on, but we find BA to be superior to Virgin in all regards.

Hi Sid,

I can't help yet but we're flying BA from Gatwick to Tampa in May, so if your trip is afer that, I'd be happy to let you know what it was like after the event.

Thanks Jo, that'd be great. I'm not flying until Easter 2004 (yeah, I do believe in planning ahead). I'm looking for opinions on BA before I book.

We've flown with BA into Orlando and Miami - as Sam says, they seem to roll out their oldest planes for these routes - however, I do know people who have flown into Orlando on newer/updated planes sometimes, but for Miami, we have flown with both Virgin and BA, and they both use their old planes.

I've flown with both BA and Virgin and didn't think there was a huge difference between the two. Little things here and there, but nothing significant. What used to direct my business to Virgin was their check-in desk at Downtown Disney, but that is unlikely to open in the near future becuase of security concerns.

My recommendation would be to go with the cheapest prices for tickets: both airlines will give you reasonably good service.

Regards

Rob

LOL yup it does sound like it Sid :) perhaps you should invest in a golf cart and give your back a rest ;)

Anyway I think Rob has given sound advice - I'd fly with either at whatever I could get.

B.A are using 777's.to Orlando, smaller than jumbos & only 2 engines. Seats pushed up on this route so same rubbish legroom as virgin. Makes the seat price cheaper stewardess said. Ha Ha!

I am in Florida at the moment, flew into Tampa last Tuesday on a 777 in economy, the leg room was fine (I am 6' 1") The service exceptional, so far in front of all others I have flown with.
