HI

Just about to book flights for 10th Oct with BA, quick questions
does BA have the 'seat-back' entertainment like Virgin flights? The reason we are picking BA is they are £210 cheaper, but with kids would like some entertainment during the flight.

Please advise asap..

thanks
Nat

Definately had seatback TVs on the Miami route in October :)

All planes are being refitted - think last announcement was 85% of BA planes had been updated

thanks - just checked their website, and looks like the plane they will use in Oct is a 777 - which is a 3, 3, 3 format and we would really need the plane with the 4 in the middle (as 8 of us going 2 adults 2 kids) an the four seats in the middle is the best option for us. So looks like Virgin..

thanks

Hi

I have flown with both BA and Virgin. They both have seat back entertainment. Be aware that even when you prebook seats with Virgin and they give you your seat numbers (in our case I requested the 4 seats in the middle and was given them with their numbers), when we checked-in, (before the 2 hours required) was given two seats together with two seats on the row behind!! They said that is still classed as "sitting together". I was livid but they wouldn't change it for me.

I would go with BA if it's cheaper. I will fly Virgin again because they fly direct from Manchester to Orlando, but that is the ONLY reason for me to fly with them.

I have recently been on a BA 777 and they had 10 seats across i.e 4 in the middle and two 3's.

You might want to just check they are flying in the normal 777 9 configuration rather than the 10 they were using last year (Caribbean route)

We flew Gatwick - Orlando with BA on a 777 in August 2003. It was a 3-3-3 arrangement, with seat back TV screens.

It was fine - we sat 2 in front of the other 2.

Hi Nat

We flew BA to Orlando in April 2003 due to the cheaper prices. They did have the tv screens on the back of each seat but I found that although they advertised that each child got an activity pack this didn't happen in reality. On both outgoing and the return flights they didn't have any packs.

We met friends at Orlando airport who had flown Virgin and their children enjoyed the flight much more. We've booked for March 2005 and we've decided to fly Virgin. The quality of service (in our personal experience) is far superior.

I expect we just had a bad experience!

We flew BA from Gatwick - Tampa in November. This was on a 777 with the 3-3-3 seating ( I think most Uk-USA flights are ).

We couldn't do the on-line seat check-in since our DS is under 12 ( i.e. a child ). BUT , BA ensure families sit together and we got 3 seats plus 1 across the aisle. Worked great both ways since the middle seat was free and allowed me and DW to have a break from the kids !! Leg-room ws also no problem and I'm 6' tall.

Seat-back TV's and great entertainment choice. No problems with the kids packs and the kids menu was IMHO even better than the adults menu, especially on the return journey.

Haven't used Virgin...but would certainly only use BA in future based on this experience.

BA have a 3-3-3 configuration on their 777's from Gatwick to orlando. TV's at every seat with 18 channels.
Enjoy!
