BA Online Check In / MCO Immigration

Is it worth waiting to check in for BA flights (travelling from Edinburgh to Gatwick then onto MCO),or to check in online 24 hrs before?

On average how long does it take for immigration through MCO these days - haven't been through MCO in 18 months and seem to remember that it was much quicker than SFB immigration - anyone know if it is quicker?

Finally, will be staying off site on I Drive in the I Drive Inn (between Rodeway and BW Movieland) anyone have any reviews of this hotel?

I am travelling with my partner (our 5th visit) and a friend and her 7yo son (first timers)....any tips for the trip (very first time with a child).........

Always a bit dodgy asking for a review of a hotel after you booked it. However, if you nip on tripadvisor website you can put your hotel or any other in and read reviews on it. Be warned though Americans are extremely picky so don't be put off if you read some bad reviews.

MCO immigration depends on how many other flights turn up at the same time as you, but normally we are out within a max of 1 hour (from deplaning to picking up the car)

I dont think you can ticket through from BA to VS anyway and will have to check in at LGW I would look at on line check in for the LGW-MCO section

(Whhops!) Sorry, you are NOT flying VS are you (Slaps head)
I would still check in on line, as if you are delayed, you could end up with whats left and rushing around LGW

I checked Tripadvisor before booking and was quite happy with the reviews but looking to see if there are anymore opinions out there

Thanks for the advice - we are flying with BA the whole journey so can heck in at EDI for both legs of the journey - no pesky baggage collection at LGW......

If its any help we did a BA edinburgh to charles de gaul at the weekend (tried to get on the bus to disney but DF wouldn't let me!) and checked in at the self service. It was alot easier than I expected and MUCH quicker than normal check in. You can still choose seats etc that way. Just an option if you don't want to do it online.

I didnt even consider the self service check in .....another option to think about..thanks

When I flew to NY last year with BA I self service checked in at edinburgh and they booked me right through on to my seats for NY meaning we just got chauffeur driven to the NY terminal to ensure we got to the flight on time as the edinburgh flight was late. Only advice I give is to have 3 hours in between your flights as our luggage got lost both ways. If I ever fly like that again I will have spare stuff in my hand luggage.

it took me almost an hour to get through MCO immigration three weeks.

I thought that was pretty good.

We travel to Orlando 3 or 4 times a year and have done so for the past 5 or 6 years. In our experience immigration at MCO is never as bad as some of the reports seem to suggest. Don't understand why the Sanforder's complain about it so much. If you comibned the immigration at Sanford (admittedly only the one experience - NEVER AGAIN!!!) and the frankly useless car hire desk then it doesnt compare to MCO.

We are always in the hire car within an hour of 'deplaning' (I like that term and plan to use more often...). Hopefully you will manage to do the same...
