BA Flight Deals Via Dublin (For Those Looking for Business Class Fares)

Suspect this will be of most use to the Irish peeps here, but if anyone here is looking to do their flights to Orlando in Business Class then I wanted to share that BA are doing a luxury flight sale at the moment until 12th November. Flight prices from the UK aren't horrendous (I priced it at just under £1700 return including all taxes) but if you put in Dublin as your starting price, you can get it for EURO1350, which works out at just under £1100. Even if you include extra flights to Dublin and a hotel near Shannon airport, it comes in at under £1300.

I know this isn't an option for a lot of people (I travel business because I'm on my own with no children and it's about the only fringe benefit) but I've seen posts here in the past about couples and solos looking to do special trips for anniversaries etc so thought it may be of use. If you book via Topcashback there's an extra £30 back on the price.

Look on www.e-travel.ie 4th-25th August Biz class is showing at 1,100 Euros = £866

Considering the same dates with VA from MAN to MCO are £1,268 in Economy I see why people are attracted to flying from Ireland. Inconvenient but very cheap.

I have not looked into it myself, can't book yet but it would probably mean going the day before and staying in airport hotel overnight. Ryanair do return flights from MAN for £44 but I am sure there would be luggage on top http://www.kayak.co.uk/flights/MAN-DUB/2015-08-03/2015-08-25

We have booked these flights for next year with business class seats for less than the current (direct) economy price.

We have to get to Dublin from Aberdeen so I have booked flights for the day before using Avios points and £17.50 per person and will be staying overnight at the Dublin Premier Inn.

As we would usually have to travel via London anyway going via Dublin isn't really any more of a hassle and so worth it

If anyone is looking for a cheap hotel near the airport, then I highly suggest the Premier Inn nearest Dublin Airport. We stayed there last summer before flying to Orlando and it was such a breeze. We also managed to get free parking for both our cars [as we booked two rooms due to the size of our party] for a selective number of days, I think we only paid for parking for roughly a week and we were away for three. It's in a great location and has both a Starbucks [which is a necessity when flying] and a T.G.I Fridays night door. They operate a bus to the airport which from memory is only 2 euro per adult and the children were free. They also did a decent breakfast and it started early enough if you had a morning flight out of Dublin. When we returned, the bus once again picked us up and took us back to the hotel to pick up our cars.

We're heading back to WDW next summer and plan on doing the same thing again.

I booked return flights on BA for £120 - still brought the price in as cheaper than flying direct from the UK. I'm planning on staying at one of the hotels near the airport - maybe the Raddisson as it's the nearest.

I am very tempted by these offers, especially as a return routing option is across the atlantic back to LGW, collect bag and self transfer to LHR for connecting flight to Dublin. As we live in the London area, I dont want to go to Dublin, so I am assuming there is nothing to stop me simply collecting my bags at LGW and heading off home. Also means I only need to buy a 1-way flight London to Dublin for the outbound journey.

Does anyone see any issue with doing this?

There is no issue at all doing it. Many many people are doing just that to get these low cost fares.

there are 2 issues with this

first of all it's a breach of the contract of carriage.
the airline won't probably do anything about this , but. they would have al the rights to reprice and bill you for a higher amount
but they never do it so relax


the main issue is with irregular operations

your ticket is from orlando to dublin
your airline MUST get you to dublin, they have no obligation to get you to London as long as they fly you to Dublin in the end, they could fly you throughbarcelona or madrid or'francfurt
so, let's say that your mco-lgw is cancelled or delayed for whatever reason, you could get rebooked on any flight to dublin via another airport

you could also get rebooked on a mco-lgw and lgw-dub meaning that your bags would follow to dub automatically


so there is no issue, but ve advised that in case of irrops (irregular operations) you might find yourself in dublin or need to go to dublin without being able to stay or colect bags in london

The above is correct, not issues that would concern me but they are correct.

Many people have done it over the past few years on various forums due to UK~MCO getting so expensive in summer. Never heard of a single issue but it could happen.

right, but the hidden city/throwaway ticketing ploy is best used with carry-ons only, especially for hidden city

correct. That's the worst case scenario

99.9% chance you'll get off in London and get away with it but now you know the risks, as slim as they may be.
