I tried this with facebook and twitter but no one knew what I was talking about:

I hate to be incredibly specific, but if someone wanted to get me DVC points for AKL around my birthday I'd totally buy them a Dole Whip.

Even my boyfriend was baffled.

Should I break up with him?

:)

For serious though, I'm thinking of renting points for a value AKL studio for a couple... does this seem good, bad, awesome, terrible...

I trust you.

Value villas have to booked 11 months before you plan to go. There are only 10 on property and they are very popular with AKV owners. You will need to rent from someone who owns at AKV to get a value villa. SV and standard view would be easier to obtain at 7 months form a non AKV owner.
I think renting is a good idea but beware that there is an element of trust between you and the renter. You will not be able to speak to Disney about your reservation as they will only talk to the renter. Many many people on these boards have very good experiences of renting but a few have been ripped off/ disappointed. Go through a reputable points broker like Davids and you will probably be fine. It will save you a fortune over Disney rack rates.
Beware that DVC owners/renters do not qualify for free dining.

Enjoy your trip AKV is very romantic! Try the secluded hot tub!!
