I am due to fly next Sunday Morning and was told when I booked this flight a year ago we can phone up before and arrange which seats we wanted that were still available, but for the like of me can remember when it was thought it was abour 3 -5 days before, can someone clarify when I can phone and reserve the seats.

When we flew with BA in March you couldn't book your seats until 24 hours before departure unless you paid for the privilege. Can't remember how much you had to pay though.

You can choose them free 24 hours in advance or £20 per person, per seat each way (:scared1:). It's £10 per person, per seat each way for connecting domestic flights :sad2:

We ending up paying to choose our seats about 5 days before our flight in December 2010, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten two seats together had we waited to book with the 24hr online check-in :headache:

We are flying the Monday after and I have been able Ito reserve mine as we are travelling with an under 2, I am not sure how the system works but there were only 20-30 other seats taken on the plane, so either the flight isn't very busy or else normal travellers aren't assigned seats until they check in so I would say you would be fine to do online check in 24 hors before departure

From what I understand that families travelling with a child under 2 are pretty much assigned seats from time of booking and if you have a child travelling in the party aged 2-12 seats are allocated 48 or 72 hours prior to travel.

Yes I think that is how BA operate, I did ask the question about pre booking our seats and she said as we have a child under 12 there was no need to worry, they would pre book us all automatically to sit together on the flight.....:)

That's better than Virgin - just flown home from LAX with them - we couldnt prebook 24 hours before - it said to do it on arrival at airport. When we got to airport, they told us it was because flight was overbooked! They did (after a while) find us seats when we checked in over 3 hours before flight but we had to sit separately on different rows otherwise they wanted $50 each for extra legroom seats together - not a major issue as DD 16 now. I did speak to a family next to my daughter - there were 3 of them including a 4 year old boy - they had wanted to split them up but they complained as they got allocated extra legroom seats for free. Just another ploy by the airlines to get extra $$$ out of the punter, I fear. The actual flights themselves were good though and on time.
