Our 3yo has his own seat for our upcoming trip. Our 1yo does not. We booked when the boys were a lot smaller and now we are kind of regretting not getting our youngest a seat of his own. He is so wriggly to say the least.
We fly from Dublin to Gatwick with a 3 yr layover.

So my question is - can we ask at the check in desk in Dublin if there are any available seats on the flight and then technically "upgrade" our lap infant to a seated passenger for a fee, or would be be talking about paying the same price or even more than what we paid for our seats last year? I *think* I remember seeing it somewhere here AGES ago that seats can be reduced in price on the day of departure as the airline wants to fill the plane...

As it stands we are contemplating giving our youngest the seat that we bought for our eldest and letting our eldest sit on our laps for most of the flight - at least he will sit still for a while at a time!

Thanks SO much :worship:

You could, if seats are available, but it's a risk you'll take. Flights tend to be booked to capacity these days. If you're happy to see hoe it goes and get to the check in desk as soon as it opens, it's worth asking. If you're set on getting a seat for the baby, you're probably better off calling them up now to get an idea of what they will charge and then decide if you're willing to pay up, or wait it out.
