Greetings all! We are leaving for the world in two weeks :cool1: and have a couple question with regard to our BA flight. We are taking the nonstop to Orlando out of Gatwick and all I know is we are on a 777, but I understand there are a few different configurations.

Does anyone know which configuration is used for this service? Is it the 3 or 4 class set-up?

Also, we are flying World Traveler :crowded: and I understand the seating is 3x3x3 and since it's just the two of us we are hoping for a row of three with the extra seat. Now, we thought one way to help our chances would be when we do the online check in the day before (gotta love BA) we will pick an isle and window and then hope nobody takes the undesirable middle. We figure worst case if someone has that seat we will just reward them with the isle and live with the situation. Does anyone have any experience with doing this or could comment if it seems plausable?

We were orginally supposed to fly out the day after but BA e-mailed us a few weeks ago and informed us the flight was canceled and they are not flying that route on Thursday's until March. So, we are hoping the flights are not as full this time of year, but of course since they canceled Thursday's flight everyone booked is most likely on ours or Friday's. I guess we shall see! :cloud9:

Just bumping this up, does no one have a response??

we're hoping to find out the same too. theres 2 of us and dont want to end up wedged between other people

was on it a few months ago and it was 3 class service business, prem econ and econ, pretty much like the one that has the link above

Thanks for the link, looks like there is more room in WT then. Just for fun I looked at the cost of booking my trip on BA today and it's only 336 quid with less than 2 weeks before the flight, so I would assume the flight is not that full at this point.

Any thoughts on the isle and window and hoping nobody takes the middle idea??

Not much help really, but it was for this reason that my wife and I gave up on BA (and Virgin for that matter).

Our last transatlantic with BA was a nightmare, as we are squeezed into a row of three with a very large gentleman who visited the loo every hour. As he was at the window, you can imagine the discomfort. Even if we had chosen window and middle, we would still have been stuck.

Last few times, we have flown BMI and Delta, both of whom have the more sensible arrangement of 2-4-2, so we been able to sit together by the window. It does mean a connecting flight, but this has never been a problem. In fact, it's often a lot cheaper than a direct flight, and the comfort of 2-4-2 seals it for us.

Come on, BA! How many people travel in threes??:rolleyes1

(Best of luck, by the way!):thumbsup2

out of curiousity, how much does your non direct flight normally end up costing you?

Prices vary according to time of year and promotions etc. If you check ebookers or similar, you'll often find that connecting through Chicago, Atlanta or Newark etc. often works out cheaper than the BA/Virgin cartel.

Better service too. BMI are excellent transatlantic from MAN.:thumbsup2
