I find this surprising that I got B18 & B19 even with EBCI in southwest.

I feel like I could have done better if I didn't spend the extra money and just checked in at the 24hr mark. It's a bit disappointing.

I was also disappointed when we also "B"s for our trip in March. However, I did not purchase EB when I purchased our tickets. I have learned my lesson and now purchase when I purchase my tickets. I hope to do better on our next trip because I bought the tickets they day the new schedule came out.

Just wondering--Did you purchase when you bought the tickets?

Yup. I purchased EBCI with my tickets. Honestly I think this is the worst boarding assignment I have ever gotten even when I didn't purchase EBCI. This was the first time i purchased it.

Think where you would be if you had waited to check in at the 24 hour mark!

If it is important that you get on as soon as possible then it is a good thing you did it, the plane must be full of other people who care where they sit.

Lol. Maybe everyone purchased EBCI :)

We had B1&2 last week with EBCI and still had no issue easily finding 2 seats together (we sat mid plane).

Like a PP said, imagine your boarding # if you DIDN'T purchase it!

Remember that A1-15 is for business select and likely won't have more than a couple of folks up there. That leaves 45 people left in A group, plus 17 ahead of you in B. Even though family boarding between A&B seems daunting, you would be surprised how many people DON'T qualify for it since the kids have to be 4 and under. At my airport they were sticklers about it last week, not allowing extended family to use family boarding (only parents/siblings, not grandma, grandpa, aunts etc.)

We are seeing more and more people using EBCI...so, we are going to be seeing those B numbers...even the high ones. We might as well just plan on spending an addtl $10 per ticket....with everyone getting EBCI, you almost have to have it..so just add it to the cost of your ticket. Then, rather than think of it as a way to board in front of the vast majority of others, think of it as a way to not have to worry about doing online checkin at the 24 hr window.
That's how I now look at it.

With the Southwest boarding groups:

The people that are fighting over A group status are:

Business Select A1-A15

For the remining A's you have
A-list preferred
A-list
Early Bird Check In

The number of people getting A's from EBCI will depend on how many A-lists are on the flight plus then where you are on the list of EBCI.

And it's actually much more complicated than that at an airport where people are making connections, as anyone who started their travel at another airport and used EBCI got their boarding number assigned 36 hours before their original flight. With the OP listing their location as Maryland, there's a good chance their point of origination is BWI where SWA does a LOT of connections.

That's what I was thinking also.
