Hi! Planning a trip for the end of March. We are a family of 5, 2 adults, 3 teens. We have stayed in POR a few times and love the location in regards to Disney Springs, but the rooms are tight for all of us. I have been looking at B Resort and it would be way cheaper, plus we are driving so we don't need ME. Am I crazy to consider off-site? My kids are old enough now that "theme" isn't as important to them. But they like to have some autonomy to come and go. Thoughts?

B’s bus system isn’t as frequent as the parks but the schedule is posted online so you know what to expect. There’s also a nice walking path to Disney Springs and/or Saratoga Springs (15-20 minute walk to the bus; 10 minute walk to the great Earl of Sandwich restaurant) where your kids can catch a Disney bus to the parks. For what you’re likely saving they could also take a Lyft if you’re comfortable with that.

I’ve stayed offsite for exactly half of my WDW trips and that’s probably the percentage I’ll do moving forward as well. It’s different but it’s also great. I think you’ll love it.

I just stayed offsite for the first time and I don't think we'll do it again. I just prefer the bubble and while the theming isn't as important for older kids, I found that I missed a resort having a theme of some kind. When you stay offsite, it's a generic hotel room that could be anywhere. The resorts at Disney can't just be found anywhere and we definitely prefer the overall feel of some type of theme. I missed it more than I thought I would. Just my two cents.

I agree POR is too tight for your group. But I'm not a fan of the B. Doubletree could be a great choice for you
