OK here is the deal!
My birthday falls on Wednesday. We are on a Western Carib Cruise. I want to celebrate in Palo for my birthday but I also do not want to leave out our son. Wed. is also Mexicali night which I could easily live without but is pretty fun for my son. I do NOT want to double dip ~ I want to be really hungry for my Palo dinner! So then we were thinking that we could celebrate my B-day during the lobster night but I think that is on Thursday, correct? The problem with that is that day is the anniversary of our son's adoption and we definitely want to be with him that day for dinner! So what do any of you suggest. I have thought out every senario until I'm looney:crazy: . Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Well, I guess you can't celebrate in Palo for your birthday with your son...so decide what is more important. Go to Palo whichever night you choose, and ask that the b'day celebration be on a night when you will be in the main dining rooms. It sounds to me like you have 7 nights--one for the adoption celebration (as an adoptive mom, I know that's important), one for the family birthday celebration, and one for the grown up birthday celebration?????

I wouldn't consider it "double dipping" to have a grown up celebration in Palo as well as a family celebration. It's just more fun for everyone. I wouldn't do the 2 dinner bit....just ask for 2 celebrations on different nights--one in Palo and one in whichever other room.

You can "double dip", but not really eat. We did that before and just had dessert while the kids had the full meal.

so do you just let the people (on board) taking your reservation for Palo know that you'd be celebrating a special occasion that night, whichever night you book for Palo? or does this need to be noted in advance with your reservation for the cruise, like with your TA or whoever booked your cruise?

We have an anniversary (which is actually couple of days before we sail), but would like to celebrate on the cruise...hmm... :wave2:

How about having brunch at Palo on Thursday. Then you get to experience all the good food at Palo, and you get to be with your sun at Mexicali night, and no one misses lobster night either.

Yes, I agree: the Brunch is great, and you also get a fabulous view from Palos during the morning. No view at dinner time, as its dark! Nat:Pinkbounc

You can eat at Palo on your birthday..then go to Mexacali night with your son. Just have dessert and coffee, or a glass of wine/champagne and enjoy with your son.

You don't have to eat again, just because you are in the dining room.

We went to our dinner table, after eating at Palo, just to visit with our table mates...servers thought nothing of it...just kept asking if we wanted anything and if we were sure.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. We finally figured it out last night but I had to make a very complex chart to do it! Sometimes I think I take my vacation planning a little too seriously! At any rate we will celebrate my Palo B-day dinner 2 days early on Formal night. We hope we don't miss Animator's Palate but since it is our 4th cruise we can live with that if we have to! We will request an alternate dining rotation and see what we get. My son will also get the bonus of getting to avoid an extra night of dressing up! Then we will celebrate my actual b-day as a family and of course his adoption day together. Whew!
