Is anyone having problems with apps (including Disney related ones)? Looks like AWS is having problems today…

It's down all over. They are supposedly working on a fix but it is impacting countless people and businesses. DH hasn't been able to do much at work because they are highly dependent on their services.

Same! Work in HR for IT and it is impacting our ability to do certain things. Mostly reporting functions for me.

Annnd America wakes up, lol... Its 7.30pm here in Ireland and the AWS started about 9.00am Irish time, so its been ongoing for the last 10 hours. All sorts of websites are affected,

It was on the national news here this morning. However the impact may not be felt the same by everyone. I haven't had any problems all day (been working since 6:30am ET) and I've visited/logged-in to some of those websites.

Why do companies continue to use US-EAST-1?

I know you can't avoid some of the global services like S3 using US-EAST-1 but you can make sure you don't create any resources in US-EAST-1 when deploying your application.

I've used six of those services today with no issue. The one that's been killing me is Genesys.

Well, that explains a lot! I was wondering why I was having trouble buying a book for my Kindle

Worse yet, DDP is down. I was at Epcot earlier today and could not use my snack credits at the food booths. We will see what happens tonight at dinner.

I called to modify a reservation (can't do it online) and the CM I spoke to said "they are currently upgrading their systems" - and could not do it, they did not know when it would be complete - sure, Jan! Who does a major update to their system in the middle of the day when it's open to customers/users??? No one. At least not with out advance notice to customers/guests. Not sure why they would not admit it is due to the AWS outage. Maybe it isn't, but it's a a pretty big coincidence!

I had trouble with Amazon early this morning and also with Pinterest. Amazon seems to be okay now, I was able to place an order. Just checked Pinterest and that's working okay too.

It being the largest may be why but it having multiple recent enough issues (in the last couple of years) probably would have been more prudent to look at moving a few services elsewhere. They have cloud services for so many companies these days so putting so much in one spot is bound to create such a blowback when something fails.

What did they say to you about that? Meaning did they give you a workaround? Maybe a risk of being fully digital is old school ways don't even become back ups.

IMDb earlier today and last night it was acting up and today it was acting up largely with trying to add or remove a title from a user-generated list but that is something that randomly occurs on and off. Presently it's actually acting worse than it was all morning having trouble with loading. This matches a report of a resurgence in issues.

Alexa was definitely having issue for me this morning not responding to our smart plug device but was perfectly fine at 6:30am central this morning (several hours after the initial reports of an outage at 3am eastern) but my Amazon account had no issues at all this morning nor this afternoon or now at the moment.

I agree it's not impacting everyone nor every service/app/program nor at the same time.
