Awesome stay at SSR!!!!

Thanks for the reports! They are very encouraging.

One question: Are the room entry doors on outside hallways, like a motel? or inside corridors? I've heard conflicting reports.

Thanks again!

The corridors are inside, but open ended. They are not enclosed by doors or windows. (there are large oval windows but no glass) If it were raining horizontally (like in a storm) the inside corridors would get wet. So basically, when you leave your room, you are covered overhead until you exit the building.

Part of the reason, I believe is that the rooms are only on one side of the bldgs. This maximized the views. If there were interior halls there would be interior rooms that looked out over the parking lot. They could have definitely fit more units on the land that each bldg. occupies, but chose not to. Another impressive attribute of the Resort.

I personally liked the corridors, they are well lit with iron sconces and chandeliers and it was definitely not like any motel I've seen.

Thanks for the wonderful report. Our first stay there will be in December. With DVC, there's always something wonderful to look forward to!

Did you happened to notice the horses on the light shades inthe hallways? Just another example of attention to detail & theme!

Yes, the numbering of the rooms threw me also. Marcus at the front desk did a very good job of explaining to me and I still walked around in a circle! LOL

Not sure how the rest of the numbering will work for the other bldgs, but bldg #16 in Congress Park is numbered from 25-28. This means the first floor is 25, 2nd floor is 26, 3rd floor is 27 and 4th floor is 28.

I know the third floor rooms were numbered sequentially. I was on the 3rd floor, therefore 2712.

Thanks for the great trip report! We also enjoyed SSR.

Here is a report on the resort configuration and I attempted to explain the numbering system used. Unlike OKW, where each building is listed by a number, SSR- with 70 possible rooms per building- needed a different system. The buildings are numbered in pairs and it appears that the same numbering system will be used throughout the resort. The only variation will be which rooms are non-smoking.

Enjoy!

..... Thanks for the room number info, but I think when I finally stay at SSR I'll take a GPS unit with me and log in my room coordinates after I finally find it the first time.

How was the bus service?? We are thinking of staying at SSR for our upcoming trip. However, we spend most of our time at MK. Do you know how long the bus ride to MK was? When we stayed at BWV, our home resort, the bus ride to MK is about a half hour with all the stops. Also, the bus to and from MK from BWV tends to be crowded because of all the resorts served on that route.

Do you recall what other resorts the SSR bus stops at?

Thanks for any info.

Gailyn:)

SSR has it's own dedicated bus service. The ride to MK is just about 15 minutes. The stop at MK was not marked when we were there, but it's #9. Service was the same as other resorts, but SSR has only 3 stops now and few passengers- we were the only riders many times.

They have bus service to all parks and DD.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the great report--I like the way you and others have reported the help treat the customers(guests). It sounds great, I might like to stay there myself in the future. The life guards were right on the ball too. Very good.nice to hear.

Thanks for the fabulous review! I stress over views too so I'm glad there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of dumpster or parking lot views right now.

Can't wait til August!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I just loved reading your detailed report. I savor every tidbit of information I can get on SSR. We are scheduled to stay there in January, but I keep thinking of changing our reservations to a smaller resort at the 7 mo. mark since we have the next 50 yrs to stay at SSR because we own there. I figured, the more people who become DVC members, the less of a chance we will have to visit BCV, VWL, OKW, or BWV in the future. And my kids are still so young and won't get any benefits out of DQ or PI yet. We love being able to walk back and forth into EPCOT and MGM..... We'd like to try out SAB..... my DH thinks any WDW resort is fine and that we shouldn't think too much about it. I keep going back and forth, back and forth.

After reading your report, I am strongly leaning in the direction of SSR. The pool sounds perfect for us..... good views mean a great deal to us (since we're sitting on the balcony drinking coffee during naps), and the bus service sounds 10x better than the long waits we had at the BWV coming back from the MK due to the stops at the S&D, Y&B Clubs. Of course the layout and decor is amazingly close to our tastes.

What would you do? I appreciate your opinion. Either way, I am really excited about SSR and I'm looking forward to going home. Thank you so much for giving us all the juicy details.

Thanks for the great report and information. We are off to SSR in august following a cruise. One question what are QC vouchers?

Thanks again for the report I just can't wait to see it in Person.
