OKay, so after many days of working with a travel agent and researching deals on the web, I decided to put my fate in the hands of Priceline. Original plan was for DBF, DD and I to stay at DLH. But, a few weeks ago my sister and her (big) family decided to join us as a family gathering! Awesome. I am so excited and DD2 goes ape over being with her cousins!

So, with the addition of more family, and their decision to stay offsite.( they have 4 kids and must have a 2 bdr. suite) we decided that we should stay off site as well so that we could all enjoy more time together. Thus, I began my search for a hotel. DS and her family are staying at Anaheim Desert inn in a suite. Perfect for them b/c it is in walking distance. my DBF is a hotel snob. He avoids 2 star hotels like the plague, lol! Me? I am fine with it. So, I did my research on Betterbidding.com and found that the hotels being given for the dates I wanted in jUly ( 3 1/2 stars) are Hyatt Rgenecy and Crowne plaza. Both are very nice hotels with free shuttle. So, I won my first bid of $42.00/night for 6 nights. Yeah ! $300.00 for the total hotel fees (well parking fee also, and a fee for refrigerator request) but what a deal! We got a double queen room and kids eat free w/ adult. NICe!!! I understand that some families are larger (like my sis) and it would not be feasible to use PL, but if you can get away with Double occupancy, you may be delighted!!

I just got back over Memorial weekend using Priceline. Paid $52/night and got the Anaheim Hilton. Very nice hotel. Parking is an additional $15/night which is absurd but I knew that before bidding and figured it into the overall cost which is still a bargain.

The parking garage is a pain and many spots are a bit of a walk. I found it much easier to use the Sheratons lot directly across the street and always found a spot right next to the Hilton. This option is also a must if you have a high profile vehicle such as a 4x4 truck as the clearance on the Hiltons parking garage is only 6' 4".

Wow great deal! That's probably what you'd pay for one night at the DLH. Extended family trips are the best, have a great time.:)

Congrats ~

What one did you get?

We've stayed at the Crowne Plaza for our last 2 trips ~ I like it very much. My winning bids were $42 as well!

Have a great time!

Good job!! CP is nice, they have a free shuttle. :)

Thanks everyone! I got the Hyatt Regency orange county. Seems like a very nice hotel. Truly it would be the price of one night at DLH. Depending on how the trip goes, we may end up staying off site for now on! Yippee!

Wow! Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! The Anaheim Hilton is one of the hotels I was closely considering booking. But after a while, I just decided to leave it up to PL. I hope we will be happy with our choice. HOnestly, for $42 a night it would be hard to be upset, lol! Hey, maybe I will luck out with an upgrade at check in , ya never know!

Awesome deal! Where did you go to research about Anaheim hotels for Priceline? I wouldn't mind using that option if I could kinda figure out what to do.

I used better bidding.com ...http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showforum=430&. It is the California forum and the sub topic was Priceline Orange county. They also have a subtopic for Hotwire. But if you can swing double occupancy or 2 rooms, then PL is the better deal b/c of the bidding. There is a FAQ forum as well. You should read that first to learn how to get multiple bids instead of waiting 24 hrs if your bid is declined. It is very informative. On this link you will see several listings for winning bids in the area and what hotel they got for the hotel class (stars). Right now for summer seems to be Hyatt Regency and Crown Plaza. Both are very nice! Good luck to you!
