whew - I know that sounds kind of stupid to get all excited over but in my many years of traveling it saves us so much time to by-pass the lines. But, Alamo was recently the cheapest rental car agency by far and therefore we had a reservation with them. However, we couldn't by-pass the lines because of the type of car class we had rented.

But - someone on here recommended going to vacationoutlet.com to check out prices (for another subject matter). I noticed that it had a contract id for up to 25% off at National. I was able to use that contract id with the coupon code for 15.00 off and got the same class of vehicle (mid-size suv) for the exact same price as Alamo. But the catcher was that I became an Emerald Club Member a few days ago (free to sign up if you use the code from www.mousesavers.com). When I put my Emerald Club Member number in with the above specifications (i.e. coupon/contract id's) I reserved the car with Emerald Reserve **I have not used Nationals by-passing the line feature but will be interested to see how it works.

If you have used Emerald Reserve before if you want to drop a message on your luck with it that would be great......

Which $15 coupon are you using? When I clicked on the $15 coupon from National's site (as directed from vacationoutlet.com), the coupon specifically says you must present it at the counter.

I'm trying to get my sister a great deal on a mid size SUV that would allow her to skip the counter (currently we have a ressie with Alamo, but they must go to their counter).

You may want to double check to see if being an Emerald Club member allows you to still by pass the counter if using a coupon. Just a heads up :)

We are quick silver members with Alamo.....

I'm pretty sure that there is a seperate check out area for members only in the parking garage.

Even then....When we waited in the regular line at Alamo it wasn't that bad.

We're Avis Preferred members, and it IS awesome. We we get on the Avis shuttle, they take us right to our car. The keys are in it, and it's running. We throw our stuff in, and we're off. No lines at ALL! We just show the rental agreement that's waiting in the car for us, a DL, and it's done.

I thought there wasn't an Avis shuttle in Orlando, the cars are in the garage across the street. The last time I rented from them, I had to go to the booth in the garage to pickup the keys and then walk to the car.

We haven't used Avis out of Orlando yet.....so you may be right. We use it out of Boston all the time.

I have used $20 coupons twice previously at National with Emerald Aisle and we have never had to stop at the counter. We just hand the coupon over to the person at the exit booth.

Thank you! I just booked with Alamo for my Hawaii vacation. I used the "Free Day" coupon and the ID Code from vacationoutlet.com. I saved $6 off my KOA rental and upgraded myself to a Full Size and I also save $33 off my HNL rental. Yippie!

Just to be sure I did call them right after I made the reservation and didn't offer any information up other than my reservation #. They said I see you booked using your Emerald Club # so make sure you bypass the line and go strictly to the vehicle class you registered for. Apparently this is called Emerald Service or something like that. Additionally, I got a confirmation email that starts at the beginning by telling me to bypass the counter and go straight to the class of car I am renting. It does show the coupon on this confirmation. Hopefully I won't have any issues as I haven't heard anyone here having issues with using coupons and by-passing the counters with National nor did the guy on the phone give me any slack.

No worries. One of the nice benefits of being an Emerald Club member is that you can bypass the counter even with a coupon. Now if you weren't a EC member and used 'Quick Rent" where you can bypass the counter, you couldn't use a coupon as it will make you go to the counter. Not so with EC reservations though. You just head to the booth and give them your license, CC and the coupon and then you'll be off in a matter of a couple of minutes!

Make sure you have the coupon with you. They ask for it at the booth when you check out did both times in May and Dec. last year.
We used the Emerald Aisle.

We used the Emerald Aisle.

This was their National.com weekly $15.00 off. Will it be ok to just bring the print off from their website?
