We had a reservation for Monday night, but changed it to Tuesday because my poor husband got sick on our trip. :sad1: My 10 year old and I had eaten there before and had a good time, but we mainly were going back so my sci-fi geek husband could have the experience. The only ADR I could get for Tuesday was at 7:30, and the park closed at 7, so we were in the last seating for the night. The service was great, and so was the food. Our waitress seemed so grateful that we left here a slightly over 20% tip, and we started talking to her about the changes in the DDP. It sounded like a lot of people are really stiffing them on the tips now. She was very nice, and even got us giant to go cherry diet cokes as we were leaving!

Yeay! Great to read a good review of Sci-Fi for a change. :)

Sorry to hear that people are stiffing servers on tips. That was one of the concerns I've had about the revised DDP.

See many mixed reviews on Sci-Fi glad to see a good one.It has been two years ago since we were at Sci-Fi and had good service and food also, our meal was at lunch.I am glad you and family had a great meal expereience. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

We eat lunch there every trip. We'ver never had a bad experince, and the food has always been good. I love watching all of the old sci-fi B-Movie trailers. I guess because I've seen the complete movies of them! Brings back some good memories.

Do they play movies at Sci-Fi? How loud is it? I'd love to try it but thinking my older one might not be ready for it yet.:confused3

As to the tipping I figured stiffing would happen. In some places it's just not customary to tip so generously so I'm not at all surprised that the waitstaff is seeing this as a problem.

They don't play the whole movies. Just the trailers. They are great though. I have never been bothered by the volume. It was never an issue when I have gone and something I never gave any thought to. It isn't like you are in a movie theater. We are able to talk and hear each other. How old is your child that you are talking about?

We ate at Sci Fi this past Monday (the 27th) for lunch, and loved it. We had an ADR, and showed up about 20-25 minutes early, and the only strange thing was that when we checked in, they acted like we were 2 hours early. We were a party of 6 (3 adults, and 3 kids--DS8, DS5, and DD3), and they said that the only way we could be seated anytime soon was if we agreed to sit 3 to a row. OK, but we did make a reservation for 6, its not like we just showed up with 2 extra people. After only a 5-8 minute wait, we were shown to a "whole car" on the front row.

The kids loved the atmosphere, and I have never seen them be so quiet during a meal. They all ordered hot dogs and fries, and the adults ordered burgers all around. The whole "theatre" was so quiet, and relaxing. We got out of there in just enough time to get great seats at the beginning of the parade route.

Our waitress started off a little abrupt, but loosened up. overall, it was a unique experience that I'm glad we did!

In all eight of our trips to WDW, Sci Fi is and always will be the one place we have to go to. We have never had a bad meal or service. Its always a nice relaxing lunch or dinner, the whole place is riveted to the screen! For food and atmosphere we have never one time been disappointed. And its why we never do the Fantasmic Package, since that and Prime Time (another fave of ours) aren't included. I just never understand the bad reviews of this place personally. :confused3

My almost 5 year old is the very sound sensitive one. When it involves food, my younger one could care less!

Hi - we have an ADR here for July for 4A + 2 . Would love a car seat. Do we request this at the podium? Is there a lot of cars?

Thanks

We love Sci fi. My kids get a big kick out of it. The burgers & shakes are great and I like the BLT soup. We try to go every trip.

Okay, please tell me that the "movie clips" that they show are suitable for a 3 & 5 year old. I'd really love to try this place, but I don't want my kids watching something that's going to scare them! I have to believe that Disney would keep it kid appropriate, but I'd like to hear from someone who's been.
Thanks!

M&E - As far as I could remember the movie clips are not too loud. My DD11 is visually disabled and anything too loud annoys her to death and she didn't complain at all, but she is 11. (I just asked her and she said they weren't too loud at all).

The movie clips also are scarey at all, they are kind of out date. There is the giant women, something with a robot and cartoons. The commercials are for new inventions like the toaster!!!:rotfl: Then Walt Disney has an piece on his new idea EPCOT!!!

If you get them a drink with a glowing ice cube and you sit with one child and your child sits with someone else. I assure you that the movie clips with just be part of the experience and not the whole experience.

Another suggestion, get there early and have your little ones peek in the room see if it sparks their interest or sends them running!!! I like lunch there best, its served until 3:55. I bet they will love it!!!:cheer2:

Just have a back up plan, but I really don't think you'll need it.

Go to www.allears.net and check out the photos and reviews. It truely is a place you would only see at Disney.:flower3:
