Awakening at Ak or Donald

First of all has anyone seen the awakening at AK. The passporter guide book says arrive 15 min early to see awakening- is it at the gate or inside- does it exist? My reason for asking is the CRO has no idea what I am talking about LOL AND I have ressie sfor Doanld at 8:30 so I would miss the awakening I think which is at 8:45. Should I try to get a later PS is it really good what is it Thanks for the help?

The Awakening... It is nice, but would be nicer yet if you could see anything!

Unless you're right up against the gates at that time, you won't see much. Some floats and characters circle around the entrance with African music, I think some words are spoken and then Rafiki declares the park open with his dramatic "...It is time" statement.

It is special but the fact is that you'll have everyone in front of you on their tippy toes, every parent will sit their kids on their shoulders to see and you won't find a spot to stand on. Everything happens at eye level and the lines are busy at that time.

So if you want to see it, get there way before 15 minutes ahead!

We were lucky enough to do both on our May '01 trip. We had a PS at Donald's I believe at 8:00 which was also park opening that day. We went up to ask if we would be able to make our PS seeing the park was opening right at the time of our breakfast (they said "yes") and they asked DS (6 at the time) if he wanted to be part of a special show. To make a long story short DS was the special guest at the Awakening which meant he got to hold the Emporer Scorpion in the show. Unfortunately he was a little overwhelmed by the HUGE crowd at the gates and ended up running over to us at the end of the show, crying. We didn't even know about the Awakening until we got there and just ended up being lucky enough to have DS be "the chosen one". Just please be sure, if you have little ones going, that your children are NOT shy if they are chosen. I don't think DS realized what he had gotten himself into until mid-way through the show.

Good luck though, I think if you get to AK half an hour before opening you should be fine. The restaurant does understand that it's impossible to get into the parks for the PS until the show is over and the crowd is tough to get through, especially when you're in a hurry. I would recommend seeing the Awakening it was a neat experience, although I don't think DS would be part of the show again if he had the chance.

where actually does it happen and when does it happen our PS is for 8:30 before the park opens at 9:00 can you figure any way we could do both or whcih would you miss?
