Just popping in to see if other people are awaiting the storm like my family. The storm put a damper on our budget since we had to unexpectedly buy a bunch of necessities in between pay weeks! Hoping we have enough non perishables to get us thru! Good luck to everyone who is waiting and holding our breath

Yep, we're waiting. I bought tons of non-perishable foods, batteries, water, etc. The gas tanks in both cars are full and I pulled out a lot of cash to keep on hand. The rain and wind just started to pick up here and school is closed for the next two days. Stay safe!

Waiting for the storm here too....we are 2 blocks to the water. Our budget has been blown also. We had to pay to have someone help take our hot water heater out of our basement as a proactive attempt at saving it. When Hurricane Irene came through last year we lost everything in our basement to 3 feet of water. No hot water for 2 months! This time we're prepared....I hope! They just announced mandatory evacuations, but I'd rather be uncomfortable in my own home than in someone else's. Probably lose power by tomorrow, so no more Dis! Good luck everybody! Stay safe!

Please leave. It's not a matter of your comfort, but the possibility that someone will have to put their life at risk to try to save yours.

We are ready! Got the essentials and are hunkered down. Doubtful we will have a mandatory evacuation in my area (Philly suburbs) but if so, we will abide. Very silly idea not to, IMO. Stay safe!

Im sure it would be hard to leave, but my best friend is an EMT and Volunteer firefighter, PLEASE leave so that someone like him doesnt have to come save you! BE SAFE

Sandy is at my house now! She's been here all day! It has not stopped raining since this morning! We're expecting over 10" of rain!!! The wind is very strong and the power has been flickering all day. The schools are closed tomorrow and hopefully it will pass by tomorrow night!!

i would say best of luck but right now its not really about luck. im from that area and i'm hoping all my friends and family weather the storm ok. i know someone in seaside park that had to evacuate, she is on the water and expects to come back and find that the first floor completely flooded. hopefully your chances of flooding are not as certain.

even up here in hudson county the towns cops are out making announcements asking people to head in doors. thankfully im up on the cliff because the hudson looks angry right now!

Yup, as your governor said today with regard to staying after being ordered to evaculate, "Don't be stupid." :lmao: He's so eloquent, isn't he?

We haven't done a thing differently. I didn't really think much about it. I didn't think this would really happen. We have enough shelf items, we got a couple gallons of water, and that's basically it. Schools closed today and tomorrow. Ok, while typing this I realize how unprepared we are and just sent my hubby to the grocery store across the street.

Please leave! They are basically saying that people will hurt - and that doesn't even begin to describe the damage to property. Get out if you still can. Good luck.

My college campus is closed Tomorrow and Tuesday. Philly schools are closed tomorrow as well.

My husband reminded me we have a large leaning pole right out front. I'm a bit freaking out now.

Waiting here in Burlington county. My DS has off from college tomorrow and my company called tonight and we are closed tomorrow.

I am not on the east coast but we do expect to have some high winds here as a result of the storm.

Please be safe everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you!

We have stocked up on all the emergency items. took all the chairs off the deck and turned the table and couch upside down. My husband rigged some sort of hose to the sump pump so that we can pull water out easier if we start having to bail if power goes out. We are not in a normal flood zone and we are 40 or 50 miles from the real coast, so I am hoping for the best. School is closed Monday and Tuesday, DH's work is closed for tommorrow. Mine has not yet decided :confused3. We are within a 1/4 mile of the delaware mandatory evacuation zone, so I am not sure why the decision is so tough! Good luck to all.

We're hunkered down for the duration. Most of Philadelphia area has canceled all but essential services.

My sister works in a city hospital in the outpatient surgical unit. Her idiot supervisor texted all the nurses that tomorrow will be "business as usual". Who goes in for elective surgery during a state of emergency?!!! My sister told her that if they send the National Guard and a hummer to pick her up in New Jersey, she will consider donning her scrubs.

Stay safe and stay dry, everyone!

It's 8:10pm and here in SW Conn. we are getting some mild wind gust. They have cancelled schools for Mon & Tues. I'm about 5 miles to the shore of Long Island Sound so I'm not in a flood zone. They have however evacuated shore homes in our town. I cooked today from food in the freezer. Roasted a chicken for tomorrow, and will put a pork shoulder in the crock in the am. Hopefully it will be done before we lose power. Rain is supposed to start in the am. Anticipating Tuesday & Wednesday to be the worst. Waited to long to buy extra D batteries! But we should be fine. Not much you can do-except wait it out. Be safe everyone, and if they say LEAVE-THEN LEAVE. Nothing in your house is more important than your safety and the safety of your first responders.

Thank you to them btw.

We are ready and waiting. We are about 20 minutes from the shore, and we have never had flooding. Thank God the 2 big weak trees that have been dropping branches were removed a month ago, so my biggest storm worry is gone. I am sure we will lose power. Hopefully it wont be for too long.

School is closed the next 2 days. Hubby has to work, he works maintenance on a major NY bridge, so calling out is not an option. Once he gets in tomorrow he may not make it back home until it is all over.
