Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

My SIL and I are thinking of doing the Charlotte, NC walk in October. Anyone have experience in doing one of the walks and can tell me a little of what to expect?

I will admit that the thought of walking that many miles in a day does intimidate me a little, but then I think of how many miles I've walked in a day at WDW before and kind of feel better.

What is it like camping on Saturday night? Are you a camper normally?

I've thought of this too, but I think I would have hard time raising the money...

Good luck! Start a training program early and put on your fundraising shoes... I think that's the one where you have to raise like $3000 or they won't let you participate. A friend and I wanted to do it, but when we found out about that we said, screw 'em! I have friends that did it and they're always doing bunco nights, pizza nights, etc. trying to raise the money.

I had NO idea. I don't think that's even within the realm of possibility for me.

I found a link on the walks community forums to a "booklet" someone has written about the experience of doing the walk with all kinds of tips, etc. It covered the fund raising part pretty well and gave some good tips. I am also concerned it is going to be hard to raise that much money, but I'm going to give it the old college try! LOL

I also read some very inspiring stories on the walks forums that really give you a lot of encouragement. It also gives you more of a meaning to actually take part in the walk.
