Avoiding the heat this weekend?

We're flying to Anaheim Saturday but unfortunately the predicted weekend heat wave (90+ degrees!) for the area is more than I can tolerate. Any suggestions for things to do for two adults, within an hour drive, that would be cooler (70's to low 80's)? We're not a fan of museums, shopping, restaurants, etc...looking for something like beaches/kayaking/other 'fun' activities.

Drive down to North County San Diego, my new home, and go to Del Mar, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, or Cardiff by the Sea. It’s paradise here! Our heat wave has highs in the high 70s at the beaches and low 80s a few miles off the beach this weekend.

We are supposed to go to Disneyland Sunday. We always miss the good weather and get the hot days. It’ll be beautiful all week and then 90 degrees when we visit. 🤦‍♀️

Welcome to the DIS Boards! Keep in mind that the humidity level at DLR is very low at this time of year (and compared to WDW, the humidity is just low all year round!). So the numbers alone don't always tell the whole story when it comes to the weather at DLR. We are expecting the weather to warm up a bit this weekend, but the hottest part of the day doesn't last long -- maybe for just a few hours in the afternoon? -- then things cool down pretty quickly in the evenings. So you might not need to be away from the parks for the whole day. The golden hours at DLR are in the mornings, from RD until about noon or so. You could get quite a lot done during those hours when the weather is cool and crowds are low, then take a break (maybe drive to Huntington, Newport, or Laguna Beach?), and return to the parks in the evening.

THIS! Last weekend it was nearly 90 degrees at the park. It was only warm for maybe 2 hours then around 3 when the sun started to move it cooled way down. Then sunset is about 4:45. This is where the shorter days can help those who don’t like the heat.

It’s like someone turning off a heater. I was there about 7 days before Halloween and while it got up to like 94 on a couple days in the afternoon it dropped to low 80s within like 20 minutes of sunset (not even dark, just sun low on the horizon). It was crazy how quick it cooled off.
