Avoiding Star Wars Weekend?

How busy is MGM during Star Wars weekend. We'll be at WDW beginning 5/18 (Tuesday) and leaving 5/25 (Tuesday). Originally planned on doing MGM on the weekend? I like Star Wars, but I don't think my 5 yr DDs would understand...then again I may be wrong. Should we just avoid MGM during that weekend? Is it really crowded during this time? Are the activities limited to certain areas of the park?

If we should avoid the park on the weekend, what days would you recommend?

Thanks!:crowded:

We were there on a Friday. (By coincidence. We didn't go then because of the Star Wars Weekend, but we will next time.) The crowds were not huge.

When we arrived at opening time, they were lifting heavily armed storm troopers to the roof of the ticket plaza. It was cool!

The best thing was the Stars Wars version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It started with a skit involving two Jawas sitting in the crowd, and then had an interview with Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca). The game questions were all Star Wars questions. Only half of the WWtbaM sessions were Star Wars games, so make sure you go to one of those.

If your 5 year olds have seen Star Wars, then they would enjoy all the Star Wars characters and actors.

Only areas that deal with SWW will be busy (i.e. Star Tours, meet n greets, WWTBAM, etc)

You are going during the second weekend, so it SHOULD not be as busy as the first or "fan club" weekend (which is 6/4 - 6/6).

They have not announced the celebrities for the weekends, so I cannot absolutely say that they would not be busy. If Disney comes through with a big name like Carrie Fisher or Mark Hamill, I would say that yes, then the parks would be busy. Last year, they put the biggest names on the other two weekends that I mentioned.

If your DD's like characters and character greetings, I think that they would be able to have fun even if they aren't 100% sure who they are posing with or what side of the Force they are on.

We just happened to be at WDW during Star Wars weekend the past two years. MGM wasn't any busier than normal. It was actually pretty fun jsut noticing the characters wanderall over the park.

I would not avoid it - should not be too busier than normal - we will be there on one of our weekends

cheers
