We will be leaving Disney on March 23 and want to spend a couple days at the ocean to relax before heading home. We live in NY so to save extra driving, we would probably need a beach on the East coast. We have a 5 yr old daughter and realize there will be spring breakers but does anyone have any suggestions for a nice family hotel on the beach where the breakers would be at a minimum? I know I am probably asking alot. Our other choice would be Hilton Head Island, SC.
We definately want oceanfront.

Thank you

We are looking forward to an upcoming trip at Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort in Cocoa Beach. There are ocean front rooms that be rented from condosaver.com. It is a timeshare but there are pool front rooms that are available to non timeshare guests. Check out ronjonresort or read the reviews at tripadvisor.com. There are also some reviews over on the cruise board threads.
We have a 1 bedroom villa (6 people) which has a kitchen and balcony. The resort is only 1 year old. There is a huge pool with lazy river and slide, plus a miniature golf area. There is a poolside bar. There is a huge "McDonald's" like indoor playground as well as a movie theatre so lots of indoor and outdoor things to do. The beach is in walking distance but they also have a shuttle.
We return on Dec.14th so I will post a review of my trip then.

Hope this helps!

You shouldn't be dealing with too many of them on the East Coast nowadays. There may be some at Daytona Beach, but the big spring break action in Florida moved to Panama City a few years back; Fort Lauderdale got tired of the liability and stopped hosting special packages.

The only thing I'd be careful of on the Atlantic side is water temps. If you want to swim, I'd go for water south of Orlando rather than north. The water is still pretty cold in March in the northern half of Florida, heck, the AIR can be a little nippy. However, if you want north, you might try Beacher's Lodge at Crescent Beach, just S. of St. Augustine. You would want an upper-storey room there, because the dunes can obscure the view from the ground floor. I don't know how much erosion Crescent might have suffered due to the hurricanes; you would have to ask them about the surf is now.
(BTW, there is another Crescent Beach in Florida, on Siesta Key off Sarasota on the Gulf side; this isn't the same one.)

Thank you for your help. I will look forward to your post on Ron Jon Caribe.
We probably wont be swimming in the ocean. Its just that my daughter has never seen the ocean and she loves to shell hunt on the beach.
I appreciate all of your input
