Avoiding Spectro Crowds . . . . . .

Well, I thought I had our plans laid. Now I discover (much to my surprise) that Spectro will be running twice on October 18th.

We had planned to spend the day at EPCOT and hop back to the MK for Spectro that night, assuming it would only run once (just like last year).

Now we've got a choice: Either go back to the MK earlier than necessary to see the 8:00 showing, or go back later for the 10:00 parade. If we do that, I'm trying to figure out how to avoid the masses of people that will be leaving the MK after the 8:00 parade just as we're trying to fight our way in.

Would you: (1) Just go to the 8:00 parade to avoid this problem, or (2) Arrive at the MK prior to the 8:00 show and then fight our way to the back of the park to wait for the 10:00 parade, or (3) Just swim upstream about 9:00 ???

We did this in December last year - we entered MK at about the start of the earlier parade and took the train to Frontierland - rode SplshM & BTMRR while waiting for the late parade - but if fireworks are between parades, your view from Frontierland is somewhat poor.

Wow Donna...that's great news. :) The 18th is DD's 16th birthday and after dinner at CP we are hoping to see the parade. Now it looks like we'll have a choice of parades...or maybe we'll watch both. :) I haven't seen an events schedule yet...just wondering where you got the info so I can check the week's events out (didn't see it on the Disney site). Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing. I have been checking the WDW site to see when they will post the Spectro parades and it is still not there. Where did you get this information. We will be going 10/3 - 10/12

Okay, I just called WDW and there is a Spectro on:

10/4 at 8:00
10/9 at 7:30
10/11 at 8:00 and 10:00

Thanks Terry...did you get anything for dates later in the month?

Sorry, I didn't ask since my trip is 10/3 - 10/12.

That's OK...I just called and got the times (now I just have to try & decipher what I wrote ;)).

Sorry Donna for jumping in here...I hope you get more responses to your question as I'd love to hear what peolple have to say as well.

I would definitely wait for the second parade, it will be less crowded. One way to get down Main Street quicker if it is crowded is to walk through the stores, they all connect. The train shuts down during the fireworks (the tracks behind Fantasyland are in the fallout area), so that may not work if you arrive close to fireworks time.

Hmmm . . . originally I got the dates from a CM when I made my PS's (for those of you who were wondering).

Now I see that the fireworks are between parades, so I guess we'll be trying to get over there for the early parade. Silly me, but I'd much rather see the fireworks after than before!!!

DisneyLisa . . . look for our lime-green ribbons!!

I will and you too...we'll either have lime green ribbon or Mickeys (from Home Depot ;)) attached to our fanny packs as well as our Canada/US Mickey pins. :) I can't believe it's getting so close now...it seems like it's taken so long for our countdown clock to move. ;) Hope you have a great vacation.

The Spectro and FITS fireworks schedule is now up on the official site:jester: :jester: :jester:
