Avoiding Pop Warner

My best friend and I are taking a long weekend trip to Disney in December. The only weekend that works with both our schedules is at the end of Pop Warner week. I had originally booked POP in hopes that a room only or AP discount would come out closer to our dates. We are trying to do this trip on a budget. I started getting worried about all of the POP Warner groups being at POP, so I swapped to AoA LM room. It was a bit more and I know I won't get a discount on it down the road. Will this avoid the Pop warner crowd? Also if a good discount comes out I would be willing to do a moderate. Do the pop warner crowds typically stay at moderates? We won't be in the room much, but I have pretty bad insomnia and am worried extra noise might make it even harder for me to sleep. Thanks so much!

POP Warner can be anywhere in the Values and Mods. They are almost always at the All Star Resorts and usually at POP too. They are sometimes at AoA and sometimes at the Mods.
It all depends on where they can get the best deals and what is available.

I wouldn't worry too much about them. In general, they are well behaved. We've all heard the horror stories about them running around and screaming at all hours of the night. This is actually pretty rare. Most times you won't even know they are there.

I agree with Tonberry. Stay where you like. I have been at the All Star Music when Pop Warner was there, and the only time I even noticed them was at the main areas, and I just noticed that they were in groups. They were all well behaved. I ran into none of the horror I've heard about.

I may just wait and see what type of discount I can get and go inexpensive. We will probably be in the parks open to close and will probably never use the pool or food court. The only thing that is worrying me is noise at night. I'm honestly hoping for a room discount so I can go moderate. I'm a sucker for the bigger rooms and queen sized beds!

DITTO! DITTO! DITTO! I have been at a value during Pop Warner at least 7 times and they have been a non-issue. If you want quiet in a value, select the theme farthest from teh main building, top floor, NOT facing the pool and you should be fine. I particularly like Country Fair at AS Music.

Pop warner has never been a problem the coaches and parents keep them in line. I've never had a problem with them and we always go when they are at WDW. Cheerleaders are the exact opposite I've had a bunch of problems with cheerleaders being rude and not following the rules and their coaches and parents being just as rude.

DITTO! Cheerleaders (and the MOMS) have been a much bigger issue for me as well.

We always go down during PW week. Never had an issue. Food courts are busy at the regular times though. And if you do just let the front desk know, any team that violates the noise curfew and are rude will be kicked from the resort and sent home within 24 hours. PW takes your vacation as serious as they take the tournament.

Thanks so much for calming my fears! I have read horror stories and was starting to worry if we didn't stay deluxe (which is definitely not in the budget) we would have problems. I think I may hold on the the LM room at AoA for right now. I love the LM as a kid and the thought of staying there kind of excites me! But I am going to be on the look out for some room only or AP discounts and will be open to swapping if a great deal comes up!

Lord give me strength to not want to harm some cheerleaders at 3AM! I forgot about this and we are all scheduled for the same week. Last time we happened to be in one of the All Stars for a few nights and had to call security in the middle of night because they were so noisy and woke up our two year old. Security actually asked my adult daughter if she could just handle them........She told security that she could handle the problem but that Disney would not appreciate the way she did it! LOL! Oh the memories! Perhaps they will be better mannered this year. We have never had trouble with the football kids or parents but the cheerleaders are not pleasant!

Yes,Pop Warner Super Bowl week also includes PW Cheerleader competition.

The main Cheerleader competitions take place from January through early May with the largest being the Cheerleading and Dance Worlds in late April(pictured below-4/25/2015).

I would stay with AoA-to my knowledge PW never stays there-they wouldn't stay in the Suites and the Standard Rooms are so limited.

Pop Warner behavior has gotten a lot better since the "incident" several years ago at All-Star Muisc-there is a lot of Disney Security at their Resorts and the Curfew is really enforced,BUT there are still many Guests who still try to avoid their Resorts just because of the sheer volume of "energetic" young people(and some of the Coaches!lol).

No. That picture above is from the Cheerleading Worlds which are held in April. There is a much smaller cheer competition, with younger girls, the same week as Pop Warner. But it is nothing like The Worlds in April.

YES! THIS IS NOT POP WARNER!!!!!

The April cheerleaders are a whole 'nuther animal. I've been there 2x as them, 2013 and 2015, MUCH more *attitude* and COMPLETE stereotype cheermoms. <shudder>

I was at Pop w/ them this year and security DID come to their door at least twice while I was there and they were very firm.

Also, I KNOW I am old, grouchy and very conservative, but I was disturbed at the very skimpy clothing many of the girls were wearing.....

Well,there is one demographic whose numbers seem to "spike" in April and July-TEENAGED BOYS!LOL

We're going to be overlapping PW... My current dates are 12/02-12/08, but may change to 12/09-12/15. I don't want to stay at a Value due to PW crowds at pool & food court (although I would do AofA)... I've been searching & searching online to find out what resorts they're going to be staying at, but the only info I can find is from 2013 & 2014. Anyone know what mod they're staying at this year?
