I know there is a back entrance to HM where youavoid the stretching room and go right to the doom buggies. My question is do they allow guests to use this if they have a toddler who would be freaked by the stretching room but would do OK on the rest of the ride?

Just ask the CM at the wheelchair entrance.
Should be no problem at all.

Are you sure they would be okay with the rest of the Haunted Mansion if they would be afraid of the stretching room? The room is pretty tame compared to the darkness, creepy voices, shrieking, skeletons, etc. of the ride itself. All that being said, my children didn't have a problem with any of the ride or stretch room even when my son was just a toddler.

I agree, the scenes in the stretching room aren't nearly as spooky as the rest of the ride. Just for clarification, is it the crowded space you think he will have a problem with??

Just wondering...

I thought the stretching room was really creepy and I was terrified on how the rest of the ride was going to be as that as the intro. :scared:

Thankfully, it wasn't anything compared to the stretching room. ;) But it totally freaked me out!! :lmao: ETA: the stretching room freaked me out, NOT the rest of the ride.

There are CM's there that take strollers and park them, so I'm sure you could just ask one of them. :)

My kids are petrified of the stretching room but not the rest of the ride. Why you ask? Because when it went dark some darn teenagers screamed at the top of their lungs and scared the crud out of my kids. This was two years ago and I still can't get them to go on HM. I wish I knew you could avoid the stretching room. Instead we skipped the whole ride.

You might want to try a video of the SR from YouTube. I showed it to my daughters and explained how the room works. Maybe this might help your child if they know what to expect.

There is no stretching room. It's your imagination.

Let's see.

"Welcome foolish mortals...
yada-yada"

"...portraits... corruptible mortal states...
yada-yada"

"Could this room actually be stretching?
Or is it your imagination?"

Hey, you're RIGHT!
It COULD be!!

it's just holograms and mirrors and lots of smoke.. and a room that stretches

When I was little I had no problem with the ride itself just the stretching room also. The stretching room wouldn't be to bad if when the lights went out people didn't scream at the top of lungs, that was the worst for me.

well.. people wouldn't scream if there was a rotting corpse dangling over their heads.

that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I have to admit when I was a young child (I am mid 30s now...)
The stretching room TERRIFIED ME!!! The ride didn't bug me but that room...shutter... still have childhood memories of it :rotfl: :rotfl:
When your a little tike... everyone crams into that room and your the shortest.... then people bump into you (or the tike bumps into the adult heheh)
then it gets REALLY dark and then the hanging gal in the ceiling lets out a Horrid scream... to little ones that is SCARY :rotfl:
the rest of the ride is pretty funny, with the dancing ghost and all....
At the same time the stretching room never bothered my 3 kids :confused3

OMG, there's something that comes *out* of the ceiling!!!

I slammed my eyes shut when the room got dark and I obviously missed that!! :scared:

Yeah, I'm a wuss...I admit it. :lmao:

If 2 of us (DGS and me, for instance) use the entrance to avoid the stretching room, can you meet up with the rest of your party so as to ride in dunne buggys near each other, as if we had all been together from the beginning??

I think this would work well for DGS.

Thanks

Karen :)

Add two more kids to the "hate the stretching room, love the rest" team. The sudden darkness, thunder, proximity to strangers and guest screaming create a mood that is very different from the rest of the ride. My kids sing and clap along with the doom buggy portion-- not so with the stretching room.

I'm pretty sure you can. About 8 yrs ago we took the keys to the kingdom tour and I believe they showed us the entrance. It comes out in the hallway between the stretching room and the line before you board the cars. It was awhile ago so i could be completely mistaken.

This is the same reason I can't get my DD on Tower of Terror...I know she would love the ride since she likes the HM and has been on other rides similar to ToT with no problem, but the first time we did the preshow someone screamed at the very end of the film and she wanted NOTHING to do with the ride after that. Maybe next year.
