Avis to close Radisson location

I mentioned this in a response to another thread, but I thought this might get more attention. The Avis desk will no longer be at the Radisson starting August 1. I spoke to the them today and they are moving to another location 1 1/2 miles away. You can drop off the car at this new location and they can shuttle you back to the Radisson or directly to the port.

Thanks for this information. It is greatly appreciated. I wonder if Avis was going to contact us directly or if it was going to be a surprise?

Thanks for the information! We're renting from Avis in September, I hope they tell us how to get to the new location, rather than just assuming we knew it was moved!

Thanks for the tip, we're renting from Avis for our Aug. 22nd arrival at MCO and stay at the Radisson.

Andy - Please let us all know what the Radisson is like when you stay next month. I have been hearing many conflicting reports as to the state of the rooms. Thanks!

I was just reading about that on another thread. I will report back. We have a 2 king bed suite, with a pull out in the living room. I will let everyone know how our room was upon our return, or maybe even LIVE from the ship.

Andy...heads up on the Radisson pull out beds. It was fine for my DD5 , but not suitable for an adult - waaaaaay too soft and worn.

I booked the Radisson again for next Feb because of the easy Avis access. I might have to rethink this. Wonder how many others might rebook somewhere else since Avis is moving.

And I mainly booked with Avis because of the office being at the Radisson, and also b/c, my niece got me some nice Avis discount coupons.

So will Avis still be the closest rental car place to the pier? We have Avis reservations for December but maybe I should switch them?

What other agencies provide a shuttle from the port to their offices? I think Budget does but are there any others? I got a decent rate from Avis for the trip down but the trip back is pretty expensive.

I too have Avis and the Radisson (october) because of the convenience. I'm thinking about changing to something else. Maybe keepeing Avis but changing the Radisson due to the comments in the other thread.

Thanks to the people on this board for keeping the rest of us out of the dark.

I know both Budget and Hertz also have shuttles.

Just a note of warning - I had to wait an hour for an Avis shuttle after our July 12th cruise. We took our time getting off the ship and didn't disembark until 9. It seems by that time the number of shuttles is reduced. But while we were waiting, many Hertz and Budget shuttles came and went.

Hi this is Shirley - I just got off the phone with Venus who is with Avis Car rental and she informed me that they have purchased property located in or about the 6600 block of A1A which makes them my neighbor - there was a produce stand there at one time and it is easy to get to - of course unfortuanlty they will not be right next to the Radisson, but will still be offering the same shuttle service which runs continues from 8am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday and the weekdays are from 8am to 6pm.
Hope that this will help clear any unanswered questions.
If there are any more questions, just drop me a note.
Always
Shirley

Thanks Shirley, I was just getting ready to send you an e-mail and ask if you had any info for us, but you beat me to it. Thanks!!!

Hi Shirley Thanks for the info what is the closest decent hotel to Avis going to be ?

I got a postcard saying effective August 1, 2003 they were moving to 6650 N Atlantic Ave Cape Canaveral, Fl 32920
(321) 783-3643
Hours: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 6 PM
Sat 8 AM - 3 PM
Sun 8 AM - 4 PM

Well I guess they were going to let it be a surprise for me. I don't mind renting from them 8/15 but Hertz is $20 cheaper for the return trip on 8/23. I'm going to cancel the return with Avis and book Hertz.

Will Avis take us to the Radisson or should we wait to return the car until the morning and have them drop us at the port?

according to your great map budget is actually the closest to the DCL dock . Do you know if they have shuttles? Maybe I will have to look into other companies now that the convience of being so close is gone.
