Avis Digital Check In

I have an Avis rental for next week prepaid booked through UCT. I was able to call yesterday and have my Avis preferred wizard number linked to the reservation and it now shows up in my Avis account online. I completed the digital check in yesterday but I did not receive a confirmation text or email and when I look in my account it still gives me the option to do the digital check in. I did it again, but still didn't receive any text confirmation, just a "your digital check in has been saved" message on the next screen. Has anyone had this problem of not receiving a confirmation text?

Also my reservation is prepaid through UCT but yesterday and today when I did the digital check in it showed an estimated total of $159. Both times, if I log out and log back in and look at the reservation it shows $0 estimated total. Has anyone had issues with extra charges at the counter when booked through UCT? Not my first time renting a car, but first time renting on a vacation and I'm a little nervous!
 
I had the same situation with the Digital Check In. I did it and next time I went into the reservation, it prompted me again. I tried calling Avis @MCO, but the person I spoke to wasn't overly helpful. He said he could not tell if it was complete from his side, which I seriously doubt. He did manage to tell me that as long as your Preferred number is showing on the ressie, you can go directly to the Preferred customer line. I'm just not sure if that is in the terminal or out in the garage. As for extra charges, there should not be any unless you decide to elect the gas or insurance offers, which I would not.

I also noted the dollar amount on the Avis reservation was less that what I paid through UCT. I'm guessing the difference is UCT's profit. I'm OK with it since my rate is so much lower that going through Avis directly.

I would love to see an update on your actual experience. We have an Avis reservation through UCT for a January trip and are planning on setting up an Avis account (don't currently have one) with the hopes of using digital check in and hopefully using the preferred customer line at MCO.

Sure! Everything with the rental went pretty smoothly! I had accidentally booked the rental starting about a half hour later than I should have and then our flight also got in early, so when we landed it was about an hour before our rental started. Went downstairs and there was no one in line at the main counter, so I went to the desk to see if I needed to check in there or the garage kiosk. She told me to go to the garage since I was a preferred member even though it was my first rental. My name was not on the board outside the garage kiosk (I am guessing because we were early) and there was a sign that said the garage kiosk was closed. We walked back across the street and they gave us a car at the main counter (again, there was no wait at the main counter, this was approx 9am). When we walked back over to the garage I couldn't find the row it said our car was in. The garage kiosk was now open so I asked them where that row was and she told me in was in the Terminal B side (we were at Terminal A). The rep was very nice and said she would switch us to a car on the Terminal A side. She did, we walked to the car, and left the garage, no problems. Also I noticed when we walked away from the kiosk that my name was now on the board. Returning was easy, just followed the signs for drop off, parked the car, and left the keys on the dash. Very easy! I didn't have any trouble with extra charges and the rep wasn't pushy when asking if I wanted coverage, toll, gas, etc.

I will say, my app didn't work to check in (maybe because we were early) and it also prompted me to check out on the app after I'd already returned the car, but that didn't work either. Overall, I would rent from Avis again for sure. If we hadn't have been so early, the entire process would have been seamless.
 
Also want to add that we got a much nicer car than I anticipated. I booked an economy car or whatever the lowest tier is and we received a Toyota Corolla.
