Average Joe, Hawaii

I feel sorry for people in this world that don't understand that the way a person looks or talks does not make up who they are.

So it isn't okay to have an opinion about some TV personality but it is okay to say something nasty about another person on this board? Why is that? I wasn't being nasty to anyone on this board. I guess if my opinion is different then someone else's then I'm low? Maybe you should take your own advice? Pot. Kettle. Black.

No, actually I took your advice and voiced my opinion. Thanks for letting me know I could :hyper:

What is self consuming about liking ones looks or not? Do you find all people gorgeous or even great looking? I doubt it. Why am I being blasted for having an opinion about some TV freak? This guy put himself on a show that he knows is demeaning to begin with. That alone says a lot about him.

I don't think you're understanding the point here....sure, voice your opinion all you want. But what you said in a nutshell is that the guy wouldn't get picked because he was ugly (as were the rest of the guys, according to you  ) and he had a bad accent.

To most reading this, that comes across as shallow. And that is an opinion also.

They knew they were going on a dating show, but they did not know the concept when they signed on. Joe 2 was made before Joe 1 ever aired.

But there is a difference. You are being rude to another board member. I don't believe that is allowed here. Whether it is your opinion or not has nothing to do with it. Believe me, I have my opinions about some people but I won't say them because I'm not here to attack another board member. I am expressing my opinion about a TV personality. Big difference but one that seems to go over some folks heads.:duck:

Its not about liking his looks. Its about saying she shouldn't pick him JUST BECAUSE he wasn't the "hunk". It was obvious to the watchers of the show that he was the real "catch" because of his actions, not his looks.

Brian knew the show was called Average Joe. He knew he was going to be a surprise to a pretty girl. He knew this. He didn't know the loop they threw by bringing in the bimbos but that isn't the point. He knew he was going on a reality show billed under an average joe. Of course Brian didn't get picked because of his looks. You have to have a basic attraction to the other person and it was obvious it wasn't happening for Larissa. They are on tow opposite ends of the scale in terms odf looks. In most, if not all relationships, you are attracted to someone similar in looks with yourself. Most gorgeous people are not seen running around with every unattractive people. That is just the way it is. And please answer my prior question. What did you think if Dave Dascal. Do you really think he is average?

You are being rude to another board member

I didn't personally attack you...I did not say YOU were shallow, I said your viewpoint came across that way.

I think there are nicer ways to voice your opinion. What you said was kind of harsh...you could have restated it and said "He was a nice guy, but he was just ok looking" or something to that effect. To make comments about all the guys being really ugly and NBC labeling them average is really quite cruel. I think you have offended other board members besides myself with your comments and the way they were stated.

Sorry but I only watched last night's episode. I don't know who Dave Dascal is.

He wasn't a real catch even if he was the best looking guy there! He was a put on. He tried to make himself out to be some mysterious person and it showed. What about his big time job as Homeland security. All that means is that he probably works at the airport! And he wasn't picked because Larissa didn't find him attractive. She said that the physical attraction wasn't there with Brian and was with Gil. Did I like Gil? Of course not. The guy was just plain creepy and a total airhead. I think Larissa and Gil deserved each other as they were so alike.

So which is it? First you say that it is obvious to everyone that watches the show that he was a catch. Then you say you have only seen the last episode? LOL!!!!

  :p

Why should I restate my opinion to suite someone else? I really didn't think he was that nice a guy either so I'm not going to lie. If other board members are offended because I happen to think a TV guy is ugly then the other board members need to get a life! You included! LOL!

My mom watched the whole season and told me much of what went on. That is why I tuned in for the finale....like I said in my first post.

Based on just watching one show I could have told you who the catch was.

And it wasn't Gil

You still aren't getting it.

Its not about the TV show. I'm not defending Brian. In general what you are saying is that because someone isn't a hunk then they don't deserve to be given a chance, even if they are the nicest, most genuine person in the world.

That comes across as shallow whether you think so or not. Not everybody out there is a hunk, but they deserve better than someone that thinks only looks matter.

I didn't think Gil was a catch either. Like I said, he creeped me out. I didn't think any of the "good looking" guys were a catch. I thought the producers went out and found the best looking guys with the least amount of brains they could and the most unattractive guys with brains and created a show. Neither set really had a chance! I think that if they would have used actual average looking guys the show would have been much better. I also think a pretty girl has a better chance of falling for a real average guy then the ugly ones she was set up with. Too extreme. To be honest I think the ones billed at the hunks were more average. Most were not hunks! Mel Gibson, Brad Pitt, they are hunks. Those bimbos on the show were the average guys!

They deserved to be turned away if the other person isn't attracted to them! So we should give the unattactive people in this world a better chance? This is a TV show we are talking about. I really don't care if some find that shallow or not but I think it rude that I'm being called names for expressing an opinion about a person on TV. If you cannot be nice to other board members then perhaps YOU shouldn't say anything at all.

I felt bad for Brian too

I think they would have a better show if they didnt have the hunks on. Physical attraction is a very powerful thing, and it showed in both shows. How both girls really made out with the hunks and just barely kissed the average guys.

Personally if I had to choose, I would not chosen either one of them.
