What say you DIS? Is the rumored avatarland the worst idea WDW has come up with???

Can you name another that comes close???

Stitch is the only thing that pops into my head at the moment

IMO... Avatarland is closing the doors to the best show on Disney property in Festival of The Lion King. Just my personal opinion.

~Thanks for the night cap! Anyway, Avatarland is going to be so fabulous! The worst thing ever is the concept of a duplicate Carsland @ DHS! But, the race car ride is cool, that would be awesome! :goodvibes

It's not closing forever, they're building another theater for it.

I do think Avatarland is an awful idea because the story of Avatar is not original. It's Pocahontas with blue aliens.

Thank you! Glad to hear that, sorry I was not updated on my info. But as for other worse ideas.. Journey Into Your Imagination Rehabs and New TTA narration.

I think Avatar , although a fun movie, it almost an exact ripoff of Dances with Wolves.

Fabulous?? Is anyone even paying attention to that film anymore? LOL . Maybe there is a huge Avatat underground fan base i do not know about cultivating fan fiction and toy mods ?

There are many stories with the same plot as Avatar. ;) Of course a lot of movies recycle the same elements but Avatar was just lame in its attempt.

I think this is my problem with it. Avatar came and went. It's not classic or timeless.

I'm personally really excited for it! I liked the movie but don't consider myself a huge fan (I don't own the DVD for example).
That said I think Disney can do amazing things with Avatar as a land. The options for experiences are endless. I agree that it will be fabulous!

In my opinion the jury is still out. However as for Disney missing the mark, Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time and there are two sequels scheduled. I think there is potential for it to be great and understand their motivation in doing it.

Not worst ever by a long shot. Try the two refurbs to imagination, Sounds Dangerous, Stitches Dance Party (or whatever that was called) that was open for like only a day among the many possible other contenders.

Given what they announced it could work though I don't get real excited about it either.

Captain EO and Adventures of Jack Sparrow

The worst idea Disney has ever had - whatever that is (it certainly isn't Avatar) - is much better than the best idea I'll ever have.

Going BACK to captain EO, right? I mean, that was cutting edge at the time I thought. The flashes in the theater are pretty cool.

Sometimes if a ride seems outdated, I just put myself into a 1980s mode while riding it. :-)

Captain EO had a bad idea? I disagree. I am not saying it should stay there or as long as it has but it was nice to have the tribute. But again, I remember this attraction when I did it as a kid in the 80s, so it was neat to see it again.

Avatar Land the worst idea? I don't think so, but I am not thrilled about it either.

Definitely replacing Alien Encounter with Stitch tops my list. I love Stitch, the character, but I LOVED AE so much more. If I have to smell chili cheese dogs again... (DH still loves it, despite the changes)

#2...castle cake...on paper, I can see how that might have been cool, but not in person.

And I do agree with PP...my greatest idea will always pale in comparison to the imagineers worst idea. That is why we still trek from all over the world... Glad to hear one of my favorite shows is not disappearing and just being relocated. Makes sense, too.

Actually I do like EO but i really did think this new Jack Sparrow thing was pretty lame!
