Tend to wonder how they plan to build said mountains. Considering FL law requires any object 200ft or taller to have a blinking red light fixed atop for aircraft safety. Ever wonder why Cinderella's castle or EE are 198 or 199.5 ft
Would it be impossible for them to build down? I understand all of Magic Kingdom is build on the second floor of a huge complex of hallways and operating space.

Kinda true, isn't it? Disney is getting so much grief for Avatar, but Uni is lauded for building Transformers (and so quickly)! Does anyone like those movies either?
I am admittedly a fan of Avatar and James Cameron in general.
I think that the Transformer movies will stick around longer because a lot of kids (and some adults) love the transformers. I'm not sure if very many people love the blue people.
But that doesn't seem all that relevant IMO. If the attractions are good then it'll be great. A lot of Disney attractions have nothing to do with any movies.
What was the one big thing people were blown away with when they watched Avatar? Aside from being one of the first movies that really captured how great 3D filmed movies can be, it was Pandora itself. It was seeing the beautiful creatures and luminescent plants flowing throughout a magical world. What better Disney movie to incorporate in an animal and land themed park? There's really no other recent film where you can bring to life not only some great rides with stunning visuals, but also create a land that brings the movie to life and let's you walk through Pandora.
I liked the idea of AvatarLand from the moment it was announced. And seeing computer generated visuals of what some of the rides and land look like, it looks amazing. Avatar was a huge movie when it came out, and I expect the following sequels to be the same. And being that it will be a land in Disney World, one of it not the greatest theme park, I think it will definitely have a lasting impression.
The article is more broad than just Disney but a good read I thought.
Say what you will about the idea of Avatarland...it certainly is a gutsy move and I'm glad they are taking the risk. It could wind up being extraordinary. AK always was envisioned with a mythical element to it...just look at the dragon in the logo.
