avatarland, carsland, starwarsland, what will universal do to respond?

I don't think they need to do anything special. In all of these announcement by Disney they have discussed 6 attractions or 2 per land. Disney is still chasing Harry Potter and Universal is already moving onto to Nintendo and other projects. Universal is far outpacing Disney in every aspect so they have nothing to respond to.

The more I think about these announcements. Comparing then to Universal, Toy Story is Simpsons/Transformers. You have an existing ride that you are converting to a "miniland" to keep attendance up until the next "big" thing comes. Springfield added a bunch of Themeing and 1 flat ride to an existing popular ride. Toy Story is doing the same thing + a Family coaster if you throw Transformers into the mix for Universal. I think most people consider Springfield to be a moderate to big success. Of course Universal took a little over a year for the Conversion and building Transformers (Mid 2012 - August 2013). From a competition standpoint between the parks, the question is will Toy Story be as successful as Simpsons/Transformers. I'm not sure how going into Andy's backyard compares to going to Moe's Tavern, and Krusty burger in terms of immersion.

Star Wars is looking to be their Diagon Alley. Of Course Diagon Alley was build in 2 1/2 years. Jaws closed Jan. 2012 an Diagon Alley opened in August 2014.
You could tell from the announcement that they are looking for the same level of immersion here. For Example, having shop keepers in Character.

Probably almost impossible to gage for sure.

I agree it's tough to be super excited about something that is 3-5 years away. I do believe it will be awesome whenits finished though. I think Avatar will be amazing as well, even though I'm not a huge fan of the movie. No different than HP, we're not huge fans, but its still an awesome attraction.

On the big scale I still don't feel like UO is competition for WDW. Most people still view UO as a one or two day stop. WDW is considered a vacation destination by most with many family's spending a couple weeks there. The more resorts UO builds helps but they have a long ways to go to compete with all that WDW has to offer on their 46 square miles of property.

I don't think Universal cares if they have more customers than WDW. As long as they are making a healthy profit, they're happy.

Answer to OP:

Consistent, routine investment in high level additions in each of their domestic parks into the forseeable future. New addition each year. Not, new announcement each year. THE END.

I think you are probably right.

My comment was more directed at the people who post like they think UO will run WDW a out of business. I think both places will continue to prosper. I plan to continue enjoying both places.

It's just tough to get excited about something that is possibly opening in 2021.
I agree! I think the new WDW additions will be awesome when they open, but one article I read said that construction on Star Wars won't even start until 2017. 2017! With the state Hollywood Studios is in, you would think they would start a lot sooner. I mean it took them over 2 years to build the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train coaster, I can't imagine how long Toy Story land and Star Wars land are going to take.

Universal doesn't have anything to worry about. I love Universal and WDW, but I can't understand how Universal can built an attraction/land in HALF the time of WDW. It's ridiculous.
