Held a convention last week at the Yacht Club Convention Center and took all the guests to Animal Kingdom on a private bus for a Safari ride and dinner.

The bus went in the back way into Animal Kingdom past a number of smaller work / storage buildings (I guess the back side of Disney versus the back side of water) and the driver pointed out the site they are developing for the new Avatar world. Naturally we went by so fast I could not get out the camera to take a picture but essentially it is a large cleared area with a lot of cranes and bulldozers there right now. No structures that I saw. Cannot wait till it opens.

Sorry there is no more to report.

Last month, we did the Sunrise Safari and we, too, had a quick glimpse of the Avatar worksite as we entered the Park from a backstage area. If I remember correctly, there were three large cranes at the site, as well as other heavy machinery. The Avatar site has taken over the old Camp Minnie Mickey area and the former home of the Festival of the Lion King show.

Extra, related, sighting: Some in our Sunrise Safari of 5/1 also spotted Joe Rohde in that same "back side" of Disney! :)
