Is eh has released some details about the controversial expansion of the largest park in disney world. The park is getting a large expansion with the help of the avatar films and Tom Staggs released photo rendering of what it will look like at the D23 expo in Japan. Along with expansion will come a new night time water and light show at the animal kingdom with projections on the tree of life. A night time show has been rumored for a few months now.

What do you guys think? Does this change what you thought before? What about an AK night time show?

I liked this part :thumbsup2:

"As part of the largest expansion in the history of the park, we’ll be adding all-new entertainment experiences, including a new nighttime spectacular where live music, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery all combine to bring a show to Discovery River that will delight our guests and truly cap off their day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park will introduce more nighttime entertainment as well, including live performers on Discovery Island and a new nighttime version of the Kilimanjaro Safaris."

The concepts look amazing. Just a totally immersive experience it seems.

I'm guessing the flying banshee ride is going to be the soarin style attraction that was rumored.

I'm so happy they aren't just copying and pasting the same idea from WoC to the new nighttime show. It sounds like it'll be beautiful! I can't wait to see it. :goodvibes

I Can't wait to see Avatar Land to open at Disney's Animal Kingdom; Then Disney would acquire Lightstorm Entertainment (Please People, Disney wants more money. I'm so worried that The Lone Ranger make Disney lose Money)

I agree DrDisneyMD it does look wonderful. However give Disney's (let's call it) 'cautious' approach to park investment, I'm just wondering how many years are we going to have to wait until it's finished - 2018/19?

I've said it beige but I wish Disney would look at US park investment like Universal does.

I've heard 2017 a lot of people originally thought 2016 but I think 2017 is fair but looking at these photos it should take that long it looks amazing.

From another thread:

Tom Staggs, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, shared exciting updates about Disney's Animal Kingdom at a D23 event in Japan.

Q1. When is the AVATAR-inspired land opening?
A1. While elements of the overall expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom will open in phases, we anticipate the opening of the Avatar land in 2017.

Those concepts look pretty cool, but what the hell are they doing to the Tree of Life? It looks like the Tree of Rave.

Yep and with Disney the devil is in the detail - note the word 'opening' and not 'completed' or 'finished'

This phasing approach allows them to sell the benefits of a brand new land while much of it is still being constructed. Look at when did 'New Fantasyland' first opened yet the sole E ticket ride is still a construction yard.

I'll stick with my 'finished in 2017/18'
