Avatar Movie Delayed

there you go with reason logic and actual facts...
two ways to look at this
1. messes up the synergy ol bob likes
2. helps because as the movies come out there are more movies to bring people back to the parks

You forgot to quote Facebook likes and blu ray sales...

My point is it IS old and tiring, there is validity to both sides...and nobody is changing there mind

But the proof will be in the pudding

thats fine take a shot at me ill be mature and not fire back
the facebook fact was in jest although true/factual
the blu ray sales are absolutely valid and blows up any argument that people just liked it for the 3D

i never saw the movie in the theater
my point all along was that it was silly to say based on a movie the land will be bad

Well...it is a flimsy argument...but I'm conceding that you have an argument.

Half full - I say.

This avatar "development" - I'm sorry - has not gone well at wdw. Nobody seems to know what the heck to build and it's taking forever.

Not to mention Cameron's struggle with the movies...
If that box office take was a real Indicator of appeal... Why has the desire to finance, make more been so lukewarm?

I don't recall there being any snags making more transformers... And those are downright awful.

How bad does the story/idea have to be to not get made quickly in today's Hollywood?

I know - "perfectionist".

We will all see.

Fox is investing a billion into the avatar trilogy..who says its luke warm?

Did we read the same article?

The article states that Cameron has 'vaguely stated' the total cost of the three films would be under 1 billion, but that budgets aren't official yet. Hardly the same as saying that Fox has written a billion dollar check already.

Confidence? The article seems to point more to the sacrifices that Fox has made in waiting for the sequels. Sounds like more they (Fox) are crossing their fingers and hoping that Cameron comes through.

The mind sees what it wants to see.

Have to try to be grounded and follow the money to be right - more times than not.

My problem since the AK announcement... And still to this day... Is why was there no attempt to "capitalize" on avatar?

Cameron is a nut - but that only holds Hollywood off For a finite amount of time.

No stones are left unturned when looking for cheap entertainment bucks...
See "American idol season 44"

It never washed.

So follow the money...potter is a hit up the road in a period of no construction at the world...

And avatar gets dusted off..."sequels coming" - when?

No freakin clue...nobody knows...still

So go back to step 1: follow the money.

Disney is paying... Under IP obsessed Iger... For a development that features no tie ins, no staying power, murky future?

Disney paying?...Disney...is pay...ing?

Recalculate.

Yes disney is paying

man is this debate old and tiring

I was going to chime in with the many obvious reasons this was a good idea and will work, but, you are correct. It is pointless and endless. In the final analysis it is a terrible idea simply because Disney did it.

Let's table this discussion until after Pandora: World of Avatar opens.

5th pirates will be out before this lol. at least that one will be a fun movie that disney can really bank on.

avatar was a thing for a while but i really feel like everybody moved on. it looked nice but it's not like it was that good of a movie come on now. definitely didn't need 3 more sequels that take forever to make. cameron's efforts and disney's dollars/park space could probably be used better elsewhere.

For whatever reason Avatar seems to be somewhat polarizing.

For whatever reason?

Let me help you with that a little bit:

"Due to the fact Avatar is a political movie intended to bash the republican party's beliefs the movie tends to be very polarizing."

Avatar was just "farenheit 9/11" with Smurfs.

2.5 hours of "republicans are evil" "republicans hate the earth" "republicans put profit before people"

There is no mystery to why Avatar is polarizing.

Ummm...

No. I'm gonna reject that

I may have to disagree here as well.

If you had instead said that Avatar was a business parody and that the bulldozing of the big treehouse was really a symbol of trashing the deluxes in favor of more DVC then I might agree with you.

Poly bungalows = the new unobtainium...

No government and the military are bad. Those sectors include all parties.

But this is political and isn't exactly allowed...

You couldn't be more wrong. As a conservative with libertarian leanings, I loved the movie.

Agreed. I was never offended.

The movie was not anti-military. No military or governments were involved in the story. It was a huge corporation that hired ex-military to be their private mercenaries. It was anti-corporation, if anything.

Some of those who dislike the movie lump the military in with the other bad guys. And the government. And anyone else that they feel defensive about. I've seen it all. I've often seen the opinion that the corporation is supported by government (as they are in real life according to some) and that the movie is all about imperialism.

Incidentally, I liked the movie well enough and definitely liked its message. The biggest problem for me was the casting but that's another issue.
