Avatar at night?

If we are planning to go on the Navi River ride, which utilizes the bioluminescent effects, is staying at the park late enough to experience Avatar land at night necessary? Is it THAT much better at night over and above what we would see on the ride?

It's awesome to see it at night for sure. But I wouldn't work your whole trip around it. You definitely get a lot of the feel in the River Journey.

I think we enjoyed it just as much in the daylight. Maybe even more. But I'm glad we saw it both ways.

We are definitely going to be there during the day, the question would be whether we schedule our day to start later so that we can be there at night vs. not worry about being there for nighttime and being able to get back to hotel at a reasonable hour for toddler and me (I will be 8 months pregnant). TIA!

I enjoyed it at night but actually thought it was prettier during the day. You do get a good feel for the look at night on the river ride. I would just do whatever is best for your schedule!

I'm probably in the minority, but I was not overly impressed with Pandora at night. It just seems like a lot of black light effect to me. NRJ was a letdown, but FOP is incredible

It is neat at night, but not so neat that a toddler and very pregnant mom should exhaust themselves to see it :).

I agree - being 8 months pregnant and having a toddler would top everything. I would do whatever is easier. Pandora will be there for years - I am sure you will be back.

I agree. I think I expected it to look more like NRJ at night and it was just some black lights that made the pathways glow. You can see much more detail in the daytime.

Most important is Fastpasses for FOP. If you don't have fastpass there are record wait times for FOP. One time was confirmed at 319 minutes, 5hrs 20min, yikes!
Without FP for FOP, to get on the ride (with maybe only a 90 minute wait) would be 2-230pm (hottest part of day), otherwise go at night and skip FOP.
NRJ ride alone is worth going.

Or get in line on a rainy day during EMH. Got in line yesterday at 10pm. Was on the ride at 10.30pm. Posted wait time was 80min

I was wondering this also. Have a short-ish solo trip in the fall and orginally did my itinerary to allow one morning and one evening at AK (I really enjoy early rope drop at AK when the animals are more active). But I'm thinking to allow more time in other parks I may just do the morning at AK, heading to River Journey at rope drop and have a FP for FOP. I've heard you can enjoy more details in Pandora (plant life, etc) when it's daylight.

Pandora at night is amazing and Pandora during the day allows for all the amazing detail to be seen-both experiences are mandatory.:)
